What is your favorite car you've ever owned?

"What car did you learn to drive in?", is a great direction to take this thread. Hard to say for sure, but I think mine was a long bed Ford F-100 with three-on-the-tree. that or an old stick-shift Chevette, my parents had both at the time.

1962 Chevy short bed stepside. 235 straight six and also three-on-the-tree. I think I was about ten when my dad tried to show me how to drive in a wide open cow pasture. But I was a talented kid. I managed to find the ONE tree in the field before he could grab the wheel and slammed a limb. Broke the (sweet, curved) windshield. Still have this baby. I tarted it up when I was in high school (stupid kid). I keep saying that I'll restore it some day and take it back to close to original condition. The only thing I'll do different is install the 283 V8 that I bought (a legit option in '62) and either put in a 4 speed manual or a TH400 automatic.

If I had a dollar for every person who's stopped and tried to buy it from me, I could retire right now. But it'll only leave my property the day after I'm dead. My (now deceased) dad bought it new back in '62, so that's still his truck - and not mine to sell.

For less than $40k I'm a driver of a 2009 Caddy XLR-V

That was the Corvette dressed in a Cadillac suit, right? I never understood why that car wasn't more successful. They got a little crazy on the price. I guess that was it. :dunno: But it seemed like it was a legit Mercedes competitor.

They should revive the XLR, so much potential, but they would have to do something about that damn sticker shock.

To me, it was just the first car that was 100% mine, a 1974 Pontiac Ventura. Nothing special, but it was because it was mine.

Cars suck.

I can't agree with this 100%, but fact is, I've never owned a car. I've had 4, 4 wheeled vehicles, and they've all been pick up trucks. I don't think I will ever buy a car, over a truck, unless I ever have the means to own a classic car, and in that case, it would be a 1968 Dodge Super Bee. I just find a truck to be a more useful vehicle for me. I might buy a Suburban, or something like that, but I prefer large vehicles.
