What is your favorite car you've ever owned?

this baby right here:

1978 Datsun 280Z or the "Fairlady Z" as it's creators in Japan called it.

I was 18 and it was the first car I ever bought on my own as by that point my dad was done co-signing for me (that's another story).

Unfortunately, I didn't have the means to maintain her on my own and eventually I gave her up for salvage after the transmission totally crapped out. And I refer to "her" because she was a sweet piece of pussy and I enjoyed driving her in the time we had together.

gawd, that was fun.

I had an Eagle Talon for awhile. I drove stupid fast in it and she was a sexy ride. Don't recall the year. It was red.

F you Afox. You are bring up bad memories. When I got my license at 16 mom and dad would split the cost of my first car. I had been babysitting for this woman for a while and she agreed to sell it to me for $200. I gave her my hundred and that was good enough for me to take the car. I drove it for a week and mom said no way. Give it back. Too fast for me. I cry whenever I think back to having that '64 T-bird. Black with the red interior.

The car I eventually was allowed to have was a '67 Galaxy 500. Mine was white. Bench seats. It was like driving while sitting on a sofa.

88' Bronco XLT. I drove the shit out of that car until the wheels almost fell off. Towards the end I had to dump ice on the engine to keep it from stalling every 1/2 mile.

Actually my favorite, is my current truck. It's a 2009 Chevy Z71 Silverado, extended cab 4x4. It rides nicer then any truck I've ever owned, and is semi luxurious inside. I've only owned trucks. Four to be exact, first 2 were Fords, second 2 were Chevy's. My first truck was cool though. It was a 1986 Ford Ranger "s". It had no radio, a 2 litre carbureted engine, and a 5-speed manual transmission. I learned how to drive a stick on the truck, after a friend drove it home for me. I eventually put a stereo in it, that would make your ears bleed. I put air shocks on the back, jacked it up, and put a set of Craiger SS mags, and raised white letter tires on it. The back were reverse rims, and stuck out of the wheel wells a couple of inches. It would catch rubber in the first 2 gears, and you could hear me coming from a half a mile away. It cost me $8600 brand new, and I paid $180 a month, on a 4 year loan that I got with a co-signer. It was also the only truck I ever owned that wasn't 4-wheel drive.

Mine's still an '86 Mercedes 280SL

Yep. Those Z's were a blast. I had a brand spankin' new one for all of about 3 months before it was stolen, never to be seen or heard from again lol

I drive a 1998 GMC Sierra Z71 off road that I love but my 2015 Subaru STI is a whole bunch of fun.

The Jaguar E-type is my "super model fantasy":

Even Enzo Ferrari recognized it as the most beautiful car ever made.

But like Zeeblofowl, my 2015 STI Ltd (Stage 2+) is the most outrageous performance car that I've ever owned. If it's possible to break the Dunlops loose on a curvy road, I haven't yet found the guts to go that fast. Taking it to the track in a few months. Maybe then.

Great thread, BTW. My favorite topic.

Ouch, that had to have hurt. Sorry for dredging that up. But that is a sweet ride.

nice and thanks. I think for most, this would be a fond trip down memory lane. Having your brand new Z car stolen, not so much though. damn, sorry to hear that, PH.

My favorite vehicle is what I have now, a 2014 GMC Sierra SLT Z71. I know, pretty boring. The sexiest car I ever had was my first car, a 1970 Plymouth 'Cuda with a 383 and fat Centerlines. I saw the film Phantasm but couldn't afford a dream 1973 Hemi 'Cuda like that so I did as good as I could with $1,000.

Tan four-door '78 Mercury Grand Marquis with a 460, four barrel carburetor, dual exhaust. Car was a beast and didn't drive, that thing floated. This isn't mine, but looks almost identical. Like any other RWD sedan with a beefy engine, prone to spinning. I fishtailed into a spin coming to a stop at a red light, people looked at me like law enforcement should be notified, I just shrugged, nothing was damaged and no one got hurt, why the fuck should law enforcement have been notified? I wasn't under the influence of anything. I drove off like nothing happened, because really, nothing did. I spun a '76 Monte Carlo into the ditch when I was in high school, drove that fucker out of the ditch and went about my merry way, too.

Had a Mustang GT that was super sweet. 5 spd, Custom paint job. Metallic Red
That was my fav I guess. And the car I have now I really like.
But I drove some real pieces of crap over the years as well.

We were city kids moving to the country. Dad had bought a house that needed lots of work. We needed to take lots of shit to the town dump. Dad was not a fool. He got us to help with the work and let us drive there as reward. This was the vehicle that my 2 brothers and I got our driving lessons on. I think he let me start driving at 13.

It was a VW with a stick and notice the drop down side. Not only did the tailgate drop straight down but so did the sides. It was a simple hook and eye. Load and unload from the back or either side. Fold them all down and you've got a flatbed. A genius of simplicity.
