I saw it last week, and it was a good movie, but I was hoping for a little more in the way of war scenes.

I knew I wasn't going to get a WWI version of Saving Private Ryan, but I really wish someone would put out a accurate WWI movie. A lot of people don't realize how brutal that conflict really was.

I also would LOVE if someone would remake "The Battle Of The Bulge", with all of our advanced cinematic technology.

Not relevant to your desire to see a hollywood movie, BUT BETTER!
WW1 in color, with voices, with advanced tech... and all utterly, totally realistic.

Peter Jackson's best, IMHO. :)

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
Jojo Rabbit.

I loved that Taika Waititi was able to take such a dark subject and period and make an extremely funny, light and charming movie that still managed to convey the gravity of the time without having to resort to cliche melodrama or heavy handed preaching. He respected his audience and knew that he was able to play with and have fun with topics that we've grown afraid to make fun of because of the sense of sacrality that we've given to them.

Waititi has become my favorite comedic director in recent years and Jojo Rabbit did not disappoint.

THANK YOU! I hadn't heard of this before. Sorry, but our system of fair play won't allow me to rep you.

No problem at all. The movie really didnt get any advertising. But the making-of is amazing!
The silent clips had people lip-read what the guys were saying, the shakey-cam has been stabbilized, AI read all the details and cleared up the picture to show what was really there, the absolute gore and unbelievability of the first truly 'world' war.. the vets talking about how the civvies dont 'get it', the minutiae of the kit they carried and the trench they called home..

*sigh* I mean, it is just perfect in its portrayal of how things change overnight. And then the next night. And application of 'blade runner' esque tech to 'enhance. Enhance. ENHANCE!'

.. ahem, anywho. For all the bitching and moaning about people taking selfies and posting their life stories every five seconds, it is really amazing to think about how documented this generation is. We can look back and do wonders with a crappy, low res, no audio, badly exposed film.. in the future we'll just run an AI on a holodeck that shows, with very reasonable accuracy.. what our forefathers did back in 2020.

Cuz that'd be a hell of a thing to do, go back in time and see what great grandpa Dino Velvet did in his spare time.
"Grandpa, what does Dino Velvet mean?"
"Well, kiddo.. there was once a movie called 8MM..."

This had been on my to-see list for some time, but WOW that was so well-made. The recollections of the men are haunting, and I really wonder if humanity has even learned any lesson one hundred years on.

Watched "Her" and Followed up with "Jexi"

Both about users following in love with their Siri's, but totally different approaches.

Her really made you think, esp for a 2013 film, and Jexi was a light-hearted cleanse... I guess.

I'm Spartacus!

Kirk Douglas, one of the last few actors from the golden age of Hollywood films, died Feb. 5, 2020.

#18 on IMDB

I think Spartacus is the only movie I've seen with Kirk Douglas.
