The reviews are brutal, but I enjoyed this. Light on plot, but nice action. It kind of reminded me of the late-80's straight-to-video gems. And Olga was great.
I'd really like to see 1917. I hardly ever buy movies on DVD, but I'm thinking this might be a good one to have. The last one I bought was Risen... a truly fantastic movie. I'm hoping that 1917 will be at least as good.
Has anybody seen it?
I saw "1917" yesterday. It was okay. Very good cinematography, for which it won the Oscar. But .. pretty much ALL of the action scenes were in the ads you saw on tv.. If you want a DVD - "Saving Private Ryan" or the "Band of Brothers" collection are can't miss ones. (Caveat: I have both!)
Yeah, I've watched both of those several times. Liked them both very much.
I'll give 1917 a try. I'm drawn to WWI films because my great uncle fought in it. And I have a hard time understanding how a human being's mind could withstand dealing with that much pain, suffering and death on such a massive scale.
