What is the latest good film you watched ?

I saw it, I just didn't think it deserved a mention in a thread about what the last "good" film you watched was.

Did you see it 3D or standard?

I wanna see it, but I'm not expecting anything much out of it. It's all about the visuals.

3D.

Yeah some of the visuals were impressive, although I don't really get why there's so much hype about them and no I very much doubt they're going to "change cinema as we know it" as we kept hearing prior to its release. It isn't really any different from what you'd expect to find in any PS3 game.

I found it very similar to Cameron's last movie - except - as I say - it looks like a PS3 game and it's a whole lot "clunkier".

Like I said before, the story pretty much sucks, and it get's worse the more you think about it,but if you think that the visuals are like a PS3 game, then you have to show me that game.

I don't really know about the claims that this is revolutionary or groundbreaking, because movies were going to get to this point anyway. It's just getting so much hype because it's Cameron and he hasn't done a movie in forever, plus the fact that it cost $300 million to make.

It's definitely worth seeing in the theater, but you really have to be watching it for nothing more than the visuals, which quite frankly, are the absolute best visuals ever put to the big screen.

I will say this,if this movie was release in the summer(whether it be this past summer or next summer) the "critics" would have a field day with it.I think that the studio chose a winter release because they knew that it was nothing different than your typical summer blockbuster, all show and no go,so they wanted to separate themselves from that pack so that the audience and critics would take it more seriously, instead of just looking at it as a typical summer popcorn flick.

I'm not really talking about any one game in particular, what I mean is overall it seemed similar - graphically - to what you would get in any state of the art adventure game.

"Seeing a movie because of the visuals" - isn't that the same defence a lot of people gave to the critics of the abomination that was Transformers 2? Now don't get me wrong it's nowhere near that bad. But a good story told well is a must if I'm going to pay to see your movie and this to me was nothing more than James Cameron rehashing old ideas and putting them up against a colourful background.

I guess it's all about perspective, if you want to go to a movie solely for the visual experience then fine, have fun. But if you want something more than that then you might be a little disappointed.

Anyway, back on topic the last good film I saw was:

Blade Runner: The Final Cut

You are absolutely right about Cameron.Basically he just reused all of his old characters and his plus other peoples ideas, and put them into this movie.Case in point,Giovanni Ribisi's character is a carbon copy of Burke from Aliens,The story is very similar to Dances With Wolves, and The Last Samurai, but not told as good. There are major issues with the story and the overall concept, but you can obviously tell that he didn't care about that. This isn't Cameron's best movie by a long shot, and he's better than this.

This movie is nowhere near as bad as Transformers 2,but the story really isn't that much better.Cameron was at least smart enough to leave out the stupid humor and crudeness.

Even though I wasn't one of these fanboys clamoring to see this movie,I would've paid the 10 bucks to see it,but lucky for me I got to see it for free.

Me to, so I really shouldn't be complaining. But I will anyway. ;)

Prince of the Rotten Milk
Well, seeing as it's actually BLACKJACK (it is called "21"), I'm going to guess you don't like it, or you at least didn't quite understand it.....

oooops. my bad.

sorry for that, Spleen. What i meant is that we boys love to play cards (poker/blackjack, you name it) and that's enough for make the film likeable.

;)

what the fuck you lookin at?
FOOD inc.

Pretty good documentary. Some of the giants of the food industry are truely evil fuckers. One company hires mostly illegals. Then to trim their work force to cut costs they report them to customs and they get arrested and deported. Nothing at all happens to the company who hired them though. Fuckin dirty!

Even more proof that money, and greed = power which as we all know will be the downfall of man...eventually! One way or another.

It's good to be the king...
Fantastic Mr. Fox

Oddly though, while I've read great reviews for this film, I thought it was just ok, plotwise (6/10 on my RT scale).
However, I've nothing but praise for the animation....
