The best basketball movie I've seen in a long while. Ben Affleck is uncharacteristically good in this as Coach Jack Cunningham...a local HS basketball legend out West, who has sunk into a life of alcoholism following the death of his son and the end of his marriage. He is asked to be interim coach for his alma mater, and pushes the booze aside long enough to mold the kids into winners with a lot of toughness, cuss words, and good, old-fashioned anti-Catholicism. No spoilers...but it makes you feel good in a way akin to Hoosiers, but with a dash of Hoop Dreams to bring you back to reality. Highly recommended. B+
