It states on the cover by "TotalFilm" that this is Van Damme's best movie in over 15 years. Like fuck it is!. I have a boxset of six movies he recently made over the past decade. The Order, Derailed, In Hell, Second in Command, The Sheppard, Wake of Death. ALL OF THESE are ten times better than JCVD is was and will ever be!. TotalFilm... you are full of SHIT.

I think it was an attempt at something different, & thought it was great. Then again most of Van Damme's movies are pretty average. Although I am looking forward to the next Universal Soldier movie.
I can see it being an attempt at being different. And it works in being different. I went into it with an open mind, with no interferance from any out side source (net, magazines, word of mouth, etc) and it just didn't work for me. I paid £8 for it a while back in HMV. And when I bought it I watched the first half hour then turned it off through there being no morale left to watch it further. And now months later (last night to be precise) I restarted it and watched it all this time. I thought I would watch it again all the way through because I was thinking this movie might be one of those ones that grows on you as time moves on, kind of like certain albums do. But it wasn't to be for me. It might be the pace or the overall direction the storyline took that ruined it for me. I am not sure what exactly it is that spoiled it for me. I only know I was still disappointed with it even after giving it a second chance. I guess it was still better than a kick in the balls would be.

I bought the DVD cause I expected a PORN! Then I threw it all away after seeing it, only to keep the DVD case

Finally watch The Expendables... I wanted to like it as a popcorn flick, but DAMN!! It's terrible!
