Just beat Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for my old 360. It was decent but didn't have much good Castlevania-style music and over all lacked a lot of the over all feeling and I SO want the series to return to it's 2-D roots. The Angry Video Game Nerd is right in that the series was meant to be in 2-D. I'm sorry but it's just an oddball fact at this point.
I REALLY didn't like the 3-D puzzles that badly complicated everything as every few hours I would have to log onto this fine cheat page of vids on YouTube and to watch this guys multi-part video collection of them by typing in the name of the state. I did find the voice over acting top touch, touch. And some of the cut scenes were interesting. I just wish it had more enemy variety, didn't rip off as many other obvious noteable games, and had a different score while albiet a good one and that the end boss wasn't Satan (!) but instead Dracula.
it is flawed but I am mad somewhat at myself for pickin' it up new last month. I should have waited a few months until the price dropped at Amazon, but ah well. It is worth playing I suppose but it IS difficult, frustrating and doesn't have that over all 2-D Castlevania feel. Plus be prepared to have to look up how to cheat on the beyond complicated 3-D puzzles. Note to all game developers: In the future PLEASE leave that shit out of any & all future Castlevania titles and have a more linier storyline. I almost always moaned nearly every level when I came to them. Learn from the better games in the series such as Super Castlevania IV for the Super Nintendo, and the flawed but still highly replayable Castlevania: Sympathy of the Night. Thank you.
