What cities/parts of the US would you consider to be third world?

The thread starter wanted to make a specific point, so he wouldn't consider MS, TN, WV, and KY 3rd world even though they are.

Well now my home state is Tennessee and I grew out in the western counties of it. Last time I checked it wasn't a third world country. I am not even arguing, as it is not. I do, however, think the current state I am in though, which begins wiht an L and is next to Texas, sadly dispite what I argue with everyone around me has a piss poor standard of living and obese people everywhere. It is all quite depressing to be here, actually. I SO cannot wait to move out.

Ironic that the most third world cities of the US are all Democratic areas, no? As for states, that's a judgement call... many would consider states I personally like as "backwards", but I would prefer living in a rural area with low crime and low taxes. :2 cents:

That has more to do with income level than anything else. Somebody that's that poor would be a fool to vote Republican. (Fortunately for them there are a lot of stupid people out there.) I'm almost of the opinion that unless somebody is one of those people that are hung up about a certain issue voting Republican is stupid outside of them being a millionaire. Unfortunately, that only leaves one other practically viable political party as a choice as bad as it is.

Many parts of New Orleans, La. I lived there for 17 years. French Quarter and other tourest area's are fun and safe. The rest of the city is a F%&^ing hellhole.
