What cities/parts of the US would you consider to be third world?

What motel is Shimmy shooting a 'scene' in....? I would say automatic 3rd world in that 600 sq ft. of space. Don't be fooled by the empty Big Mac and apple pie wrappers and boxes in the room...it's 3rd world.

Akron.OH

St. Louis, Watts, Detroit, Pittsburgh. For being a smaller sized city, Albuquerque is pretty shitty, the tourist sites seem all nice and pretty but when you go into neighborhoods and stuff, it's pretty shitty, especially when you consider how much less populated it is compared to cities like L.A., Chicago, etc.

Many parts of New Orleans, La. I lived there for 17 years. French Quarter and other tourest area's are fun and safe. The rest of the city is a F%&^ing hellhole.

I am from Detroit and some of outer areas in NO were quite spooky. The Frenchman's Quarter was very cool.

Detroit East/West Suburbs are a dire area. The Downtown area gets a bad rap. Between the New Center to the Riverfront it is not bad with Wayne State U, Arts Museums, Business district, sports parks and plenty of nice eateries and bars. You need to drive between spots, but really not a ton of people live down there and but their a plenty of townhouses and lofts along the path.

It is no Chicago or San Fran, though!

Cleveland.

This.

I grew up On Long Island, NY. Parts of it: Central Islip, Wyandanch, Mastic Beach and Brentwood appear to be 3rd world, minus the fact that there are cops, schools and welfare. It's where the shit collects. Jamaica, Queen and Bed.Sty Brooklyn are also on that list.

Camden and Newark in New Jersey also qualify. Areas of Cleveland, Ohio are full of shit people with no parents and no education, just illiterate retards being raised by obese grandmothers.

3rd World is a good description because people understand the gravity of awfulness, but it's still an insult to the real 3rd world. Crucify me all you want, but the most horrible poor communities are plagued by their cultural cycles, not economic hardships. It's not easy to get out of the ghetto or trailer park, but when there's a family structure that gives a fuck about the youngest generation, there's hope. But that's a rarity.

There are a surprisingly large sections of Detroit that look more like they came out of a Fallout game and aren't part of one of the largest cities in the country.

Detroit...always being kicked while were down. Its not that bad here...hell, I wasnt mugged or killed today so I have that going for me plus we have the Lions. Well, thats not a good example but we do have the Pistons...uh, scratch that too. Bob Seger came from here...thats a bright spot right?
