What are your origins ? Where do your ancestors come from ?

Russian, Finnish, Swedish, Estonian, German and French
 
How do any of you know these things? Most people have no idea what their heritage is or are usually in denial of it?

I'm not saying what they are,but in my case,it's painfully obvious from the surnames of my parents....plus it's something that was constantly discussed in my household when I was a kid.

I don't deny the Irish,but I identify much more with the Sicilian side...

One side of the family is all about the polka and beer. The other side has fucked up teeth. You just put 2 and 2 together.:rolleyes:

Actually on my dads side of the family it was always talked about. My second cousin is a genealogist. On moms side, not so much. But surnames can tell you so much.

I grew up told I am Irish and Scandinavian. I found out in March of this year I am English and German. I look kind of Russian though.

My mother's side of the family has been in the country for untold generations, while I can trace my Italian ancestry back to just my grandad. Then again, European ancestry is easier as we're mostly just natives.

My grandpa was born in sweden and came to america with his family when he was just a boy. So I'm what...25% swedish? Thats the only thing I know about my ancestry. It obviously goes a whole lot farther back than that, but thats all I know about it.
