I know that wikipedia is hardly 100% reliable, but I needed a quick source of info for those who don't know what it is.
It gradually happened over time. I took a lot of health classes over the years in high school and college, and I noticed that something just wasn't right (obviously). The first thing you naturally assume is that it could be testicular cancer, but none of the symptoms matched up. I did a bit more research and pretty much came to the conclusion that it was a varicocele. I also went to an urologist to confirm my suspicions, and they turned out to be correct.
The pain is kind of a nagging feeling. It's an annoyance. My left testicle has a cyst over it, and it's kind of more enclosed and higher than the right, which is in the normal position that all testicles should be, but because the left is in front, it's almost like the scrotum/sac is angled diagonally.
It's kind of embarrassing, but I'm planning to have the varicolectomy as soon as I can. Just wanted to post this (since this is generally a male-dominated forum, sorry ladies) to see if anyone else has experienced this. I encourage anyone who thinks they may have a varicocele or testicular cancer to get checked out. In my case, I feel I sort of turned out lucky, although that whole possibility of infertility is definitely a downer. Either way, get yourself checked out as soon as possible.
