Watergate 2.0 in Progress

Those of us who are old enough to remember Watergate remember Nixon's plan to subvert the Constitution by setting almost the entirety of the Executive Branch in motion to cover it up was ALMOST perfect. It probably would've succeeded except for one thing. As always. A dumbass. The dumbass in question: G Gordon Liddy. In the June 17, 1973 "smoking gun" tape, Nixon and his then White House Counsel, John Dean, are talking, and Dean points out that, "He" wants more money, or he's going to go to the authorities. The he in question is Liddy, who had bragged to women in DC bars, (while holding his hand over table candles, for effect, I suppose,) that he was a huge big shot, who could bring the president down, if he wanted. (He forgot to take the tape off the door.) Unfathomable dumbassery did the Nixon White House down. Fortunately for the country, the entire Trump Administration is little more than a collection of Gordon Liddys. Dumbass Inc. And the head dumbass can't stay off Twitter.

Get ready for the FBI to leak like crazy. Felt’s motivation for leaking about Watergate wasn’t whistleblowing: He wasn’t motivated by some patriotic sense of duty to protect American democracy. Rather, he believed he was acting to protect the FBI’s independence from Nixon’s attempts to rein it in. He was doing that because Nixon appointed a sycophant, L. Patrick Gray, as FBI director. He wasn’t leaking out of some sympathy for Woodward and Bernstein or Watergate, but for his own interests to undermine Gray.

You left out the hubris of Nixon that couldn't bring himself to destroy the whole audio tape.
In late 1974 I went to a lecture at SRI where they explained how they had proved it wasn't one 18 minute erasure, but many over and over again. That lying conniving SOB couldn't figure out how to use a (admittedly high end) tape recorder.

Watergate

If there is anything that resembles Watergate it is the unmasking and leaking of the names to the press of private citizens.

Don't worry leftwits, that will be the focus soon enough.

Go ahead and yank the daily press briefings. Issue them in E-mails. Don't have to answer the same fucking question 15 times in a row. Have Donald do a 1/2 hour sit down every other day to cover more topics than the "Issue of the Day". And cut the fucking tweeting out.

Donald Trump is the chief law enforcement officer in the country. He outranks the AG or FBI director. He can legally order any investigation shut down and it not be a criminal offense. Any crime the president committed would have to be something other than ordering the investigation shut down. For example, if Trump committed a crime and the crime is discovered and is being investigated. Ordering the investigation shut down is not the crime. The crime being investigated is the crime. Get it?
Being that the AG and FBI are part of the executive branch what he says goes.

However, congress can object and use the political process of impeachment to remove him.

Good luck.

Gonna be a long 8 years for you twatwaffles.

Again, unless he commits a crime impeachment is off the table.

I know it's hard for you. Of course, a president has a lot of ways to obstruct investigations etc.

Do you ask yourself:

How are future elections play out for our party as the boundaries of wrongdoings and corruption get pushed further on a day-by-day basis?

Oh yes, you tell yourselves (and us), you believe (you WANT to believe) it's going to be so TREMENDOUS

You are whistling in the woods

Trump has his son-in-law set up the communication directly with the Kremlin. This is a heady mixture of Mafia, Watergate and High Treason
