I'm going to only say this once. STAY ON TOPIC.

This thread is about a news story. If you can not stay on topic, I will personally ban anyone that derails this thread for a month.

When people no longer respect themselves, they aren't going to have any respect for others...

This is just terrible in so many ways.

Really good observations both. What we are witnessing, I fear, is the slow, steady and chaotic destruction of a certain segment of American society....a demographic stratum where kids roam the streets, have little or no parental supervision (or, more importantly, love and guidance), no incentive to be formally educated so they can become useful, productive members of society, no ambition to work or try to better themselves in a legitimate fashion, no respect for themselves or others and no sense of what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is evil or what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. The have further become desensitized by the endless and shameless promotion of mindless violence by the media (TV, movies, video games, music, the internet) that surrounds them in their compartmentalized world. It's sad and it's sick and it is only going to get worse I am afraid.

I truly fear for my kids and my grandkids. You can scream and shout all you want about how everyone involved in this horrific episode should be imprisoned or gang-raped themselves or killed or strung up by their balls or whatever but all you are doing is slicing off one head of the Hydra....it is sure to grow back because we don't become outraged about these things until they are manifested and most of us are too ambivalent and concerned with the petty details of our own everyday lives to ever do anything to address the root of the problem at its source....and even if we did, where are we supposed to start?

To me, it all begins at home. As parents, we have an incredibly important responsibility....covenant in fact....to raise our kids with love and respect....to teach them compassion and (through example for the most part) right from wrong....that effort equals result, to treat others with respect and what they need to do as individuals to become good, well-adjusted and contributory members of society. Unfortunately, way too many of us abandon that covenant very early on and the ensuing result is an endless parade of horribly tragic events like this one and many others that are similar (like the beating death of the student in Chicago a couple of weeks ago). How do we force parents to live up to their covenant? Sadly, I don't think it can be done.

We're fucked I'm afraid. :( :crying: :helpme: This is soooooo sad. :crying:

This is disgusting, the ones who just stood by and watched should be charged as accessories to the rape.
Every day you read a story and think can it gett any worse.
And then it does.

Witness intimidation? Peer pressure? Stand around bumfucks who have no fucking spine to step in and do something about it!

Fuck them! Anyone who fucking stands around and watches a fucking gang rape for two fucking hours are no different than the fucking rapists themselves!

No excuses! No passes! For two hours they watched? Fuck them!

I agree with you 100%. The ones who stood by without trying to help her are just as guilty and they all should be sent to prison for life. Sadly this is just another example of the apathy that is destroying a large part of humanity. I hope the justice system will make an example out of everyone present @ this barbaric crime.

For two hours this girl, this kid was brutalized, terrorized ,and raped by a bunch of teenage boys with a fucking audience?! Are teenagers that desensitized that they don't know right from wrong? Dude it's not a Goddamn movie. The whole think makes me want to puke. Fucking mouth-breathing rubberneckers. I don't understand how anyone can just stand there and watch as another human being get the shit kicked out of her for 2 hours. The fact that one of the kids was 15 and he won't get the punishment he deserves really chaps my ass. Everyone there, the rapists and their audience are responsible for this kid across the fucking board. I, personally would like a 2 hours alone with each of them in a dark room and beat the living shit out of them. This type of shit makes me ashamed to be a man.

Nothing makes me ashamed to be a man,and besides that real men don't do this kind of repugnant shit.

"Repulsive" doesn't begin to describe it.....

All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing.

Shit like this really make me want to sterilize 98% of the population...

I could not agree more with this. Very Very well said Sir. I believe it does all start with proper parenting. What if courts started punishing parents for what their "minor" children are doing? Maybe this is instating to much control by the courts but it just might work??

Man what the hell ever happened to standing up for whats right. If that happened when I was in high school that whole crowd would have been on the ground in a bloody mess. This is beyond sad, I can not even image how young adults think this is right.

Where were the school administrators and teachers? Was this a school-sanctioned event or a private event that rented out the school for the night?

There was clearly a major breakdown in authority. Where was the school's security? Don't most public schools in California have security services?

I don't think this is some NEW type of barbarism, never seen before, either in history or even just in the history of the U.S.

Still sickening though.

I've read stories throughout history where women have been raped and brutalized many times like this (usually killed after wards). I can't think of any stories off the top of my head, but they usually were brought onto themselves. Not saying it is right either way. Just different times and different laws.

Update on the story

There is no excuse for it. There is nothing the woman could possibly do to deserve this.

I agree with you, but I didn't make the laws. I remember reading a story about a woman who killed her husband. I was just saying.

I think once you kill someone it's like laws in different times were very punishable. Nowadays you murder 50 people and you get life without parole? Is that really that bad in our prisons? Our prison systems are very easy to get through.

Those "observers" were probably in the gang as well. That is the only explanation as to why someone wouldn't report this horrible crime.

It happened across the street from where the event was, in an out of sight alley. School in in the process of getting security cameras, unfortunately a bit late for that. This evil deed occurred in Richmond a city that deserves its bad reputation. Kids these days are as ruthless as convicted murderers. One kid who got arrested was remorseless. Fucked up society. Again as I have said before Kill 'em All.
