War against Terror in Canada just got real

https://news.yahoo.com/uniformed-canadian-soldier-shot-at-ottawa-war-memorial-140825845.html
A uniformed Canadian soldier has been shot at the War Memorial in Ottawa, and gunfire has also broken out inside the Parliament buildings

The equivalent of a gunman shooting up the Capitol Building AND Shooting a soldier at any one of the war memorials across Washington.
There was an actual gun battle inside Parliament while it was in session, and the gunman was killed. They've since ID'd the shooter as an Islamic convert.

Another loser looking to give purpose to his life. Seems like a consistent pattern with these outsiders and/or converts. The Ginger Jihadi that I made a thread about was another loser that got discharged by the Georgian military.

Be nice if we could get a good enough and big enough can of Black Flag to bottleneck, spray on, and put these insect jihadis away. Send them to Hell with 72 Shelley Winters.

I've been to the War Memorial when I went to Ottawa. My thoughts are to the soldier's family and to those wounded except the gunman of course.

He had 5 years of armed forces service so he was a legit soldier; it's really sad to see this. I've been to the memorial a couple of times as well, but I remember there are always 2 armed soldiers standing guard... so I'm wondering what happened to the other soldier.

I was there about 11 years ago. I think there was two because at Arlington Natl. there is one soldier and that was what I noticed. I would think in most cases the honor guard would be active military.

Just to clarify to those who haven't been there, when we say "armed" guards, we're talking about military assault weapons, not handguns. The reports are that the gunman shot the soldier at the memorial, got in a car and then drove across the street to the Parliament buildings. Even if he got the drop on the first soldier, what I don't get is how this lunatic got away from the fully armed & trained second soldier. Hopefully the news can shed some light on this.

Maybe the border that should be watched very closely because of the danger that ISIS fighter could come through wasn't the one Republicans have been talking about for monthes...

Catch one alive dig a hole shoot your prisoner in the head fill hole with dead prisoner and buckets of pigs blood and pig parts. Let it be known this is the end for all extremist problem solved. Sad as this scenario sounds it has worked before.

That legend has been attributed to General Pershing during the muslim Moro rebellion in the Philippines but there's no evidence that actually happened. Also, burying an islamic martyr with pig remains wouldn't bar them from their paradise according to their teachings but would only be a grave insult.

And can we be honest and more specific with which religious extremists we're talking about?

I'm sure there's some fervent fundamentalist hindus in the world who aren't planning to attack their host country's parliament anytime soon.

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
It's a damn shame that shit like this has to happen. It's fucked up when it happens to people that have sworn to serve, and are out of a war zone, but one gets created by a fucking asshole, with delusions of what religion is supposed to mean. I don't know if the soldier was armed or not, who knows if that would have made a difference...I haven't seen anything regarding the way he was attacked. I believe Canada does allow ownership of shotguns and rifles...it does have a great deal of hunting tradition, and the expansive land for it, but I would hate to think that, because they do have strict firearms laws, that they would let their guard down, that just seems unrealistic. Even States in the Continental 48 that have strict laws, as few as there are, still always prepare for the worst. I hope this doesn't turn out to be a case of a lackadaisical attitude towards the possibility of violence, because no law stops that, no matter how good the neighborhood you live in.

It's a shame. But what's SHAMEFUL is Rosie O'Donnell using the incident to go on a rant about gun control.

Couple of interesting facts that are coming out.
-The memorial guards have guns but no ammo
-Security in the Parliament buildings only have handguns (Which speaks to the bravery of these guys)
-And kind of disturbing, the Prime Minister doesn't have a 24/7 security detail. The gunman literally walked by the door to the room where the PM was holding his caucus meeting and the RCMP was no where nearby.

All of these are likely to, or have already been changed.

I'm sure a lot will change. But Ottawa had a total 4 murders last year. So I guess the need for additional security was not thought to be needed. This also explains the expression of the S.A.A. when he was given kudos by Parliament. I thought that him killing someone was weighing heavy on him. But now I think it was because he knew how much worse it could have been.
