Wandering SC governor admits straying

One of Sanford's emails...if you can stand the mush.have at it..

From Gov. Sanford,
Date: Thursday, July 10, 2008, 12:24 a.m.
“One, tomorrow leave at 5 a.m. for New York and meetings. Will think about you on its streets and wish I was going to be there later in the month when you are there. Tomorrow night back to Philadelphia for the start of the National Governor's Conference through the weekend. Back to Columbia for Tuesday and then on Wednesday, as I think I had told you, taking the family to China, Tibet, Nepal, India, Thailand and then back through Hong Kong on world wind tour. Few days home then to Bahamas for 5 days on a friend’s boat for the last break of the summer. The following weekend have been asked to spend it out in Aspen, Colorado with McCain - which has kicked up the whole VP talk all over again in the press back home ...

Two, mutual feelings .... You have a particular grace and calm that I adore. You have a level of sophistication that so fitting with your beauty. I could digress and say that you have the ability to give magnificent gentle kisses, or that I love your tan lines or that I love the curve of your hips, the erotic beauty of you holding yourself (or two magnificent parts of yourself) in the faded glow of the night’s light - but hey, that would be going into sexual details ...

Three and finally, while all the things above are all too true - at the same time we are in a hopelessly - or as you put it impossible - or how about combine and simply say hopelessly impossible situation of love. How in the world this lightening strike snuck up on us I am still not quite sure. As I have said to you before I certainly had a special feeling about you from the first time we met, but these feelings were contained and I genuinely enjoyed our special friendship and the comparing of all too many personal notes ...

Lastly I also suspect I feel a little vulnerable because this is ground I have never certainly never covered before - so if you have pearls of wisdom on how we figure all this out please let me know... In the meantime please sleep soundly knowing that despite the best efforts of my head my heart cries out for you, your voice, your body, the touch of your lips, the touch of your finger tips and an even deeper connection to your soul.”

First Ensign, now Sanford. God knows how many of those bible-thumping, family value touting, Clinton-bashing conservatives have mistresses of their own. GOP is the Party of the Hypocrites, no doubt.

A southern politician that is a hypocritical liar? Wow. Who knew?

Maybe now both major parties will leave morality out of the campaigning.

Every other month it seems there's that kind of press conference. It's either a politician who's been caught fucking another man in a toilet, or a super conervative politician paying for sex or cheating on his wife. Not only because of things like that, but US politics are really fucked up. But who cares?

Facetious

"It's only sex"

Watch it now ! There's one from Chicago now skippering the ship. Or making a poor attempt at it.

Maybe now both major parties will leave morality out of the campaigning.
If they do, what's to stop them from lining up the railcars and . . .

"It's only sex"

That's what most people say. He and others were the one's pounding us over the head, nagging and dragging the country through impeachment on the grounds of "moral legitimacy".

I guess this is just another case of a GOPer being for "moral legitimacy" before he was against it. How convenient a life they lead. How many of them has it been now? This once again proves that for all their bluster the majority of these fuckers likely don't stand for anything but politics

Adultery is a crime in South Carolina. We will see if the prosecutor prosecutes.

It's in South Carolina's Code of Laws, Title 16--Crimes and Offenses, Chapter 15 "Offenses Against Morality and Decency"

SECTION 16-15-60. Adultery or fornication.

Any man or woman who shall be guilty of the crime of adultery or fornication shall be liable to indictment and, on conviction, shall be severally punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than one year or by both fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.

SECTION 16-15-70. "Adultery" defined.

"Adultery" is the living together and carnal intercourse with each other or habitual carnal intercourse with each other without living together of a man and woman when either is lawfully married to some other person

Interesting. Only problem is he didn't commit the adultery (as far as we know) in the state.

Politically it my be a problem that he violated one of his states laws in spirit but I don't see this festering into a particular legal problem for him.

I would imagine there are a ton of scofflaws in S.C. though.

I will say I have a problem with his private email apparently being raided and turned over to the press.

It's a troubling trend for the GOP for sure...we have barely let the dust settle from the John Ensign --Nevada--scandal of last week!

I'd love to just blame the GOP on being total sexually hypocritic clowns---Sanford was another Chest-thumping anti-Clinton Impeacher--but there is something to the whole "Power Corrupts" in Politics that crosses political parties, unfortunately...

I would have no problem if South Carolina Dems try to make him resign.

Honestly after the Craig widestance incident and the Foley stuff...I think some GOP folks are counting this as a "not so bad" seeing that he was cheating with someone who was A) not a male B) of age C) not young enough to be his daughter:glugglug:

Between this and Miami's father Cutie being caught breaking his vows....with a WOMAN:eek:, I as a Catholic and Conservative and am feeling rather positive :1orglaugh

There is still a violation. According to S.C. law, if the governor leaves the country, he's supposed to put someone in charge while he's gone, and he didn't. It's a relatively minor infraction, but it pains me that he was that stupid.

I was talking about the adultery law in S.C. which was pointed out.

I wonder how much state money was used during his little fling. I read a headline that said some was used. How many teachers had students added to classrooms or teachers lost jobs because of the budget, yet he could support his fling with state money. Politics is fun, politicians are shit

Apparently he's rushing to pay it back. But just the fact that he used state funds for personal travel (esp. of this nature) might be enough to impeach him. The drama continues.

I was anxious to see what this woman looked like. I figured she'd look like Gabriela Sabatini or something. Nah, not quite. They showed her picture today. She's not a total hag, but to kill your career and marriage over a 5 (at best) :dunno:
