US urges new climate goals

Wow, isn't this a reversal?

US President George W Bush outlines a new plan to tackle greenhouse gas emissions, ahead of a G8 summit.

In my opinion, it's a step in the right direction.

But he gives no numbers and no targets. He just agrees to talk about it.

Sounds to me like he wants to look good for the history books when he leaves office at the end of next year.

He will appear to be trying to help the planet.

Hey Bush Jr. you ding dong; give us some numbers you arrogant asshole.

Or if you really want to help the planet; invent a time machine. Go back ten years and start drinking again.

Fucking useless prick.

He don't give a shit about the planet! His family is wrapped up in oil just like the major oil companies. He'll lose his ass if we stop using gasoline and other by-products of oil!

Well he said no to the Kyoto conference, so this is a surprise. I guess public opinion took it's toll.

He's just now starting to realize that in the past 6 years in office he hasn't accomplished shit! Short of killing thousands of Americans and making one hell of a mess for the next president to clean up! He's trying to save face to make the next 2 years look good on paper...but we know the truth!

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
This is pure political rhetoric. In his 2006 state-of-the-union address, Bush referred to America's "addiction" to oil. What Bush-led initiatives have been undertaken to address that situation? Same thing here....it's just political posturing. A large constituency of Bush's power-base (big oil) doesn't give a fuck about greenhouse-gas emissions and neither does Bush IMHO.

He just doing damage control before leaving office in 2009.

Bush has pissed off the world in the past 7 years of office.

Peace.

95 senators said no to Kyoto ... BEFORE Bush became President. Nice try. :2 cents:

It's all presentation, without substance. Sadly this is just US advertising, and not really at it's best.

Pointless unless every county on the planet is on board. We all share the same atmosphere that is being trashed... to think that if the richest countries in the world do it will change anything is pretty stupid. Those countries already put a lot into emissions restrictions... it's the crazy second and third world countries who have NO emissions control that would keep the plan from working.

Of course you are aware that America pollutes the World more then any other country by far.

The US is number one in emissions affecting the atmosphere and last in it's willingness to help cut back.

yeah, those damn third world countries where they don't produce or export anything and most people don't even have electricity and plumbing are the one's destroying the environment.
