I had similar thoughts when I first read this. I guess he was very good at hiding his true nature from the authorities. It also makes you think about the state of the mother if he was considered a better alternative.

Hey, no worries. It's not like it's torture or anything. He was just using an enhanced interrogation technique to get his daughter to explain why she didn't know the alphabet. Fair enough!

What isn't torture about being made to drown repeatedly to anyone who needs oxygen to live (more oxygen than we can recover from water btw.)?

When you have as many people in the military as we have, and the demand for bodies is greater than the need for "quality" people, guys like this are going to be in there. This is not an indictment on the military, just an observation. There were marines at Camp Lejeune who were selling Ecstacy, others have been arrested for killing a fellow Marine because she was pregnant. I know of at least one case where a Marine married a girl, then as soon as the pay increased and he got some allowances afforded married soldiers, he treated her like shit and rarely came home.

There are tons of people with a bad agenda, and there are many in the military. We have a fucked up society, the military is a microcosm of it.

Not sure this story is about people who are just "bad". This guy seems disturbed mentally. If it's the case, how on earth doesn't someone in his command not identify this?

Pretty sure someone above him will be answering a few questions as to why one of their soldiers is walking around his neighborhood threatening to rock bomb people's windows after having abused his child so egregiously.

Mega, there are stories every week about soldiers doing criminal things. Female soldiers being raped, drug dealing, incidents like this. Want to go back to Ft. Hood? There is only so much people can do to keep the world safe. ironic, we are talking about keeping the world safe from people whose job it is to keep the world safe.

The military is a microcosm of society...it's got plenty of fuck-ups and mentally disturbed people.
