2 years ago I was fired from my job for selling alcohol to a minor. I got a fine and 2 years court supervision. Unfortunately now I am unable to find a job pretty much anywhere due to this. It's a loss prevention issue and it's keeping me form a job. My cout supervision ends in February. Any tips on what I can do?
So you have an actual criminal record, yes? Misdemeanor or felony?
Despite what people are telling you in this thread about "UPS hiring anyone", sorry to say it is virtually impossible for ANYONE with a criminal record to get a job at least in the US in the current economic state. I know this having been out of work for over 4 years and having a misdemeanor conviction. Thing is, while it is illegal for people in the US to be disqualified from a job on the basis of their religion/race/sex/sexual orientation/handicap, if you have a criminal record it's pretty much 'Go FUCK yourself,' even with the employment agencies.
I was in Adecco, (a temp agency) and went through the whole 45 minute filling out forms process only ot have the semi-flunky get halfway through it and say, 'We can't hire you.' 'Why?' 'You have a criminal record?' 'So, it would be illegal for you to hire me? I REALLY doubt that, it's more like, you WON'T hire me. Saying that you can't is beyond insulting to me, not to mention that you could have mentioned that you discriminate before I spent 45 minutes filling out the forms.'
Fun, fun, fun!!!!
Bottom line, it will be nigh on impossible for you to get a job with a criminal record.
