As a service to future historians of the long, slow death of the newsweekly, Reason offers this Top 10 list of the most horrifying, silly, irresponsible, or downright ridiculous Time cover panics from the past 40 years.

I was wondering about some of these. Is Time really on its last legs? I grew up reading the magazine and its almost always contained insightful articles and sometimes a point of view I hadn't considered.

Me as a German must say that the Time magazine is a more than well-written magazine that allows me great insights into the state of the United States.

My most irrelevant cover candidate is the Foul Words cover. Pokemon is a runner-up :)

I was going to go with the Sugababes' version of "Girls" until I realised it wasn't that kind of cover.

Are they (Time) obsessed with Porno Combo???:1orglaugh

lol, well the most irrelevant would be Pokemon.
the wort however would be Cyberporn IMHO.

mind you, I'm surprised they didn't stick the Putin cover in there

I don't see what's so bad about these covers. What I do know, is that the Pokemon cover is the best one. Ever.

Probably not the worst but I **** hearing it...

John Legend, Melanie Fiona and Common cover of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes - "**** Up Everybody".

Oh..is this mag covers?? :1orglaugh...

The top two worst aren't even listed in the poll.

January 1939, Man of the Year, Adolf Hitler

January 1940, Man of the Year, Joseph Stalin

The poll should be reopened. ;)

The Population Curse

The Porno Plague
Cyberporn: On a Screen Near You Yes and no. Some people are weak and the majority cannot be blamed for what the minority does.

*****: The Enemy Within
Really? How? Which kind?

Overcoming Obesity in America
There will always be people that are different than you.

Hitler, Stalin, and Che Guevara, Mao Tse-Tung, Ellen Degeneres, OJ Simpson, and many more were on the cover.

Actually, my votes goes for Michele Bachmann. I think I threw up in my mouth a little when I saw that.
