netvideogirls.com is referred to in threads on here as Net Video Girls, NetVideoGirls and NVG.

Do you think we should pick one as standard and run with it?

If not, maybe a thread consisting of a glossary of accepted terms for each website would be a good idea.

e.g. netvideogirls.com - Net Video Girls / NetVideoGirls / NVG

Cos the abbreviated method may be obvious or have meaning to a lot of people but not everyone. If you know, you know. If you don't, you don't.

The abbreviation would be appropriate given the character limit of thread titles. AA for Amour Angels; SB for Showy Beauty; BRCC for Backroom Casting Couch, etc.
The counter-argument to that would be that the ones who need the site in brackets afterwards are those with few names and therefore plenty of characters to play with. I'm sure you can find some exceptions, but generally speaking.

e.g. it is often used to denote that it is Dorothy of Site X rather than just Dorothy of Site Y

It's also not particularly user-friendly for your average person to come online and be expected to know what BRCC means, for example - even if there is a complete list for them to reference on the forum somewhere.

If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that people don't read sticky threads.

In my opinion, keep the current "system" of no rules, just as there never emerged a standard for titles (slashes, AKAs, commas, vertical lines, etc.) .

Otherwise, just use a standard abbreviation for websites in titles only.

Was the question rhetorical then? The current free-for-all works so stick with it like @mentator75 wisely suggests.

Nah, I was just opening it as a topic of discussion to see what people thought.

I did kinda downplay the use of abbreviations in my initial post though so you shouldn't be surprised I offered a counter to that specific point.

But is an open discussion.

Basically, anyone is free to give their thoughts on the subject and if we did decide to do things differently then it won't be just because it's the way I want to do it.

I was just conscious of the fact that site was being referenced in three different ways which is why I brought it up.

If nobody has any issues with it or can at least be accepting of other people's preferences, then I guess we carry on. All I'm saying is that Joe Bloggs might not know what NVG means so creating some kind of reference guide for them might not be a bad idea... so there's no harm in doing that just like you stated yourself. But I'm also of the view that that would be making things unnecessarily complicated because stating a website for what it is is self-explanatory whereas having a place where someone can look up what an abbreviation actually means is both useful and unnecessary.

You could also argue that this is overthinking it, but it is nevertheless what came to mind.

Done.
