FYI, I have (for the most part) finished that project of fixing misspelled names on the dashboard side. I still have a little over 50 to fix and a few that I need to check on.

If anyone sees a name on that side of FreeOnes that needs fixing, send me a message and I'll look into it.

Merged. One of the mods from back then probably closed it as it was a duplicate thread.

Before I even looked at it, I thought it was one of the "old policy" threads. A now, long-retired mod, once told me, up until maybe 2009-2010, FreeOnes had a policy to close very large threads and then start a new one. Sometime around 2009-2010, they stopped doing that and started merging the duplicates. I myself have found a few over the years and merged. There may still be a few lurking around. If the search function had a feature to search for locked threads, it would be easy to find out.

Sounds like some new search functionality is required.

I know some of the platforms back then had issues with databases and indexes. Closing large threads was a workaround.

It would be nice, but I'm satisfied with what we have.

The vBulletin search, simply put, was a piece of shit. For a long time, it would not work on any words that were less than 4 characters. At some point, the admins got it to where it could search on 3 character words, but that was it. Since we went to Xenforo and Petra installed the Enhanced Search, Xenforo can search 2 character words, and it does not ignore apostrophe's like vBulletin. The only issue I have is, during a search, vBulletin converted Cyrillic characters to English. Xenforo doesn't do that. That can be a little frustrating.

I wasn't trying to assign blame. My point was merely that anyone who tries to do something will fail a fair number of times. To do nothing, achieves nothing.

My preference was(is) having it in the title, but some of our more prolific stars can have more aliases than we have character space to fit them all.

Under vBulletin, checking the box Search titles only, would only show results if the criteria was in the actual thread title(s).

Xenforo doesn't do that. Even if you check Search titles only, it still shows it if there is a matching "tag".

If you want to include the others, send me the title and I'll fix it.

Done.
