The worst heavy metal songs

@ Dino Velvet, I like the way you look at it. Having fun with your beliefs is basically what chaos magicians do. I love that you can express yourself like that with music.

Thanks. Life is to be enjoyed. If I wanted to begin a religion I would start dividing and conquering the villagers too. Create a good enough boogeyman so I can get them to hide in my barn taking shelter from the storm I warned them of. Mayhem is the house band of my new church after the rubble from the old one is swept away.

Mason Popoff, earlier you mentioned Sarcofago. So you must know that it wasn't really norwegians who started that scene, it arose all over the world. Impaled Nazarene from Finland, Sadistik Exekution from Australia, Profanatica from US, Sarcofago (or even Sepultura in their early days) from Brazil, Root from Czech etc.

I don't know if you follow black metal-scene, but there are shitloads of bands who sing about magick these days.

Yeah, I know it didn't start in Norway. I was just referring to what the second wave of black metal did. I know there are other bands who write about magic(k) but I think most are Satanists. I'm not saying that's bad. I totally respect that. I just don't see too many that do it without the Satanism. You mentioned some of my favorite black metal bands. I also love Black Witchery, Thornspawn, Krieg, etc.

Darkthrone can do no wrong. I like Fenriz' attitude. He doesn't like the gay trendiness of a lot of black metal bands. They seem to focus more on just playing good metal rather than worrying about what a black metal band is SUPPOSED to sound like and that's why they always put out killer stuff.

You clearly are from US, as all the bands you mention are from there. I've seen Black Witchery live 2 times and they fukkin slay. Not as hard as Blasphemy but who does? How about that ripoff junkie from Nachtmystium?

Well how do you think we can listen to Morbid Angel when it is so fuckin cold? Try to jump around for Death in shorts when there is -20 celcius.

Yeah but jumpin' around raises your body temperature so it would keep you warm. Just sayin'.

I can understand people associating black metal with the cold but the way American bands like Krieg and Grand Belial's key play makes me think of factories and the ghetto. I love American black metal.

Don't have to listen to Morbid Angel anymore after their most recent release. I worked security for them in 1996 in Texas. Pretty fun.

Darkthrone is allowed to do pretty much anything they like. Love the new short album as it seems to tip its hat to past Black Metal. Definitely hear some Sodom and Mercyful Fate in there.

I don't know about the rip off you're referring to. I've been kind of out of the loop. I need to get a job. Heh. I like to check out new stuff that's comin' out but ya can't fuck with the old shit ya know? I like when black metal bands do the whole crossover thing with hardcore punk. I love GG Allin, the Mentors and Discharge. I really wanna get the German thrash metal band Poison's "Into the Abyss". I really wanna get Death SS. You know about them? I think I would really like them. They say they were playin' black metal in the 70s. That's gotta sound awesome.

Poison and Death SS (Italy) are awesome. But Poison wasn't formed until -82, and as much DSS were into occult, I don't think they were black metal.

Wow. That was my first time hearin' anything off that album. I would say it's still black metal. Just more in the old school way with some traditional elements. A lot of thrash metal elements too. These songs would fit well next to the old songs in a live set. Good stuff.

The Darkthrone album? If so I agree about the old school Black Metal vibe. The album is good quality music.
