All the dictator types do eventually but the US is fundamentally anti-strongman in government. some cultures need strongman types not the US way. Even fdr they clamped down on that back then don't you think they knew what deep state was before the term existed.
Agreed.

This is not Russia, China, Venezuela, etc. There is a ginormous difference in what a Putin in Russia can do and get away with vs. the system here in the USA.

The ability to just up and declare that you're going to be President until 2036 just does not exist here in the USA.
I mean fuck ... here in the USA ONE fucking Illegal can't even be deported without Pelosi's Federal Judge in California blocking it.
Revisiting Posts 3506 and 3509 in this thread.

This week showed us that a certain segment of the country does want a 'strongman'. Trumpsters don't recognize their mania for the man.

The mob got the JV last week. Next time, they'll be seeing the varsity squad.

Trump got impeached for the second time, establishing a new all-time record in American history. Will he become the first to be convicted?

I think conviction is likely because the Republicans need to distance themselves from Trump - and it could prevent Trump from running again, meaning they won't have to fear him taking over their 2024 primary.

Only 10 republicans in congress voted for impeachment. The senate needs 67 votes to impeach.
Hopefully at least 20 republican senators will grow a backbone and not be hypocritical cowards.
I have doubts that enough republican senators will have the courage or morals to do what's right. :(
Evil ahole Trump needs to be impeached ASAP, before his cronies and brainwashed trumptards attempt a more violent coup.
If ahole Trump had been impeached in January 2020, the violent attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 would not have happened, over 300,000 covid-19 deaths could have been prevented, and the armed attack by neo-Nazi MAGA Trumptards on Jan. 20 would not be imminent.

Trump's been impeached again. What's next?

I am in America, not of it.
McConnell is not going to do anything He might be mad, maybe, but he is not going to run off 40 or so million Trumpista votes for the next elections. Assuming as always there are any more elections.

I think it's absolutely true. I said to the main squeeze last night it's fucking amazing how it keeps boiling down to fucking white supremacy. We need to be done with this bullshit, and done with the people who try to keep it alive. They're holding us back and fucking things up for all of us.
If you want to be racist, deny obvious facts and live in a fantasy world where you're the hero and the victim, do it in your own home, but fucking leave that shit there, because it's not welcome anywhere else. We have no place for that anymore.
Fucking nazis. Cut that shit out America.

Jesus....I've said it before and I'll say it again, because nobody else seems to be saying it at all. The chilling thing here...more than the troops and the hillbillies and the rhetoric...is HOW CLOSE THIS ELECTION WAS. If you add up every one of the MAGA terrorists it is still too large a number, but nowhere near enough to carry 47% of the vote. Almost half the voters...and those are the folks who cared and believed enough to register and then go vote...actually voted for this clown. I drove by a church where there was voting during the last election, on the evening of voting day. This was in a neighborhood that---to put it mildly---would be a Trump stronghold. There were people lined out and winding around the building and parking lot. Late voters in person are traditionally Conservative. You can talk about voting for the party. You can talk about voting against "socialism." You can say that Trump "isn't the best choice but better than Biden/Harris" all you want. BUT YOU VOTED FOR THIS GUY. And you folks did it for deeper reasons than just a dislike for Democratic principles. I listen to people at work. I read the words in the comments sections online. This inset feeling that polarizes this country bred a person like Trump. He is a masthead, not the ship.
