The thing being is that people become polarized between pro apple and anti apple. I must admit, I hate the whole closed aspect that apple does on all thier systems. I think they should allow us to access thier stuff a bit more. I think it is frickin rediculous that I have to jump through a ton of hoops and trick my phone just to let me make a ring tone. I had a crappy little sony ericcson clamshell that would make a ring tone on the phone in under 20 seconds.
The truth though, is that the iphone is very handy for the most part. It has a relative ease of use and does its job pretty well. Now onto figures, believe it or not, the iphone has a big market. I think it is helped out because alot of the ipod accessories can be interchanged with the iphone. I love the docking station I have at my office, not only can I listen to pandora all day, but I can charge my phone at the same time and the little radio only cost me $40. I dont know what is available for the droid phones, but if they all have different connection points, this makes it hard to standardise peripherals for them. This is huge when you think about support from third party makers. The iphone allows third party developers to feed off the iphone frenzy and inturn makes the iphone the choice. How many droid phones have come out in the last year? Something on the verge of 30. Thats cool that they are pushing the technology left and right, but how many of you got pissed with things switching from dvd to blu-ray now?
