About the sissifying of this country; it definitely is happening.
My nephews take Phys Ed. as an elective. When I was in school we were required to get at least a half hour of strenuous exercise and that regimen became part of my life and most of my classmates daily routine even after school.
Also there wasn't much of a choice in the cafeteria. You either brought a sack lunch or you ate what the lunch ladies prepared. We didn't have vending machines in the lunch room.
My High School in Des Moines gained national attention when three students were suspended for wearing black arm bands with a peace symbol (ie the footprint of the American Chicken) in protest of the Viet Nam war and wound up winning a landmark Supreme Court case expanding First Amendment rights of students. This effectively started the decline of American Teachers' authority in the classroom. See Tinker v. I won't even get into the whole prayer in school thing but suffice it to say, I can see a decline in morality in American society that directly correlates with this issue. I'm not going to convince anyone one way or another on this topic so that is all I'm going to put out there.
This whole pussification issue would be fascinating if it weren't so infuriating to me. Don't get me wrong, the freedom to be oneself is a great thing but when everyone wants to be unique then people become just like everyone else. The desire to be politically correct has created an atmosphere of fear. No one wants to say or do something that will single them out as hateful or phobic and has infringed upon the freedom of speech.
There is such a thing as being too open minded. My sister for example, is so open minded that I think her brain has fallen out of her head at times.
There are still people here who espouse manly ideals regardless of the consequences but they are fighting an uphill battle IMHO.

But look at society today, when I see kids getting a high school education but not going to school I ask why did I waste my time, All you need to do is drop out of school go on welfare and go to some adult ed school partime and get your GED, or better yet go to jail and get it. You don't even need a high school education to get in to college or university just apply as a mature student and write some math and English tests " In Canada that is" I'm sorry but if you can't hack high school how are you going to function in college or university. The problem with our world is that people are becoming to lazy and want everything handed to them without having to do any work.

We treat our children like angels, yet, we allow them to live like devils. It makes absolutely no sense to me. I'm not saying that we should be beating the shit out of our kids or allowing them to do whatever they want to with absolutely no thought of safety or precaution, but...FUCK!!!
Why is it actually considered a bad thing to spank your kid? Seriously, it's fucking ridiculous. Without discipline, whether it be a few days of grounding or a brief ass kicking, kids will NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER learn. They will continue to do what they want, when they want to and they will continue to have no regard for other people and their lives.
I won't go into the long story that's involved, but when I was younger, my dad put me in my place and, to this very day, I'm still there. I was younger, about 12 or so, and I was mad at my mom (long story), so I threw a baseball hat at her. My dad immediately ran over to me, picked me up by the shirt collar and slammed my ass into the back door. He looked me straight in the eye and told me, in a very stern voice, to never do that to my mother again. 15 or so years later, I have still never done it to my mother again. Why, you ask? Because, my dad didn't treat me like his little angel; he treated me like a stupid, disrespectful kid (which is what I was) and forced me to learn my lesson.
Kids don't get that privelage anymore, which is why they're all growing up to be stupid, disrespectful pussies that don't care about other people and can't even take care of themselves. They have no fear or respect for the reality that is "life".
