The Pacific

The One and Only Big Daddy

I watched most of the first episode. I expected more. When I watched Band of Brothers I felt some emotional attachment to the characters and it had a semblance of authenticity. Not so much with Pacific. Maybe it'll get better in the coming weeks but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

i intend to watch it, just like BoB. i bought it, and have watched it 13 times

Pretty good I thought... although Tom's involvement has ruined it a bit for me after his retarded comments last week

I was really attached to it because I have always found the Pacific theater very intresting and I wanted to see how it compared to Band of Brothers it was good and I'm hoping it gets better

Bingo!!!!!!!

I used to think Tom Hanks was a guy who sort of represented the "Everyman". No anymore. His vile anti american comments saying that what my father did in the Pacific was racist and what we're doing now against jihadists is the same.
That dope lost it.

Pissed me off big time.:mad::mad:

Wow this is my first time hearing of this that is some serious shit to say.I wonder what gives:dunno:

I watched the first episode and I like it so far. I have to say that if i had to compare the first episode of Band of Brothers and the first episode of The Pacific that BoB would win, but it is much too early to judge the entire series like that. Hopefully this series allows the viewer to create a bond with the characters more in the next few episodes.

Damn. You're being kind of tough on it with the BoB comparisons so soon.

It came up last week. I'm sure a lot of WWII Pacific vets were suprised. My father who was in the Navy and served in the Pacific kept asking me who this Tom Hanks guy was and what's his beef with the US.

Tom definately went loony...maybe making those stupid illuminati films a few years ago scrambled his brains.

NBC did a story of one of the men who won the MOH and is featured in the "Pacific".
The shitty news said Basilone received the award while fighting "enemy troops".

Enemy troops? You mean Japanese you friggin liberal PC pussies!

We didn't fight a country called "Enemy" we fought Japan.

That pissed me off as well.

If Hanks wants to spout out "racism and terror" then that idiot should've meant Imperial Japan.
The Japanese were incredibly racist and used methods of terror in the conquest and subjugation of all non Japanese in Asia.
Jeez it's as if Hanks never got an education.
Even to this day Japan is a racist and quasi intolerant society to outsiders.

I'm sick of all this PC "Blame America" crap.

Well, start doing what I do. Watch the show, then turn off the TV. I don't want to hear from the actors, directors, producers or critics. They are all fucking crazy. The hell with prologues, sneak-peeks and lead ins. When it comes to a WWII miniseries, they had me at hello.

I don't have HBO, so I'll just wait until this puppy makes it to DVD and buy it. Maybe they will put it on the History channel like they did with Band of Brothers. BTW, for those who don't own BoB, the packaging is cool, and it comes with a superb Special Features disc. I just wish Joe Toye had lived to see it. The guy had bigger balls than any fictional war character ever invented.

the action and the fighting is intense i dont care for the characters i just aint emontionaly invested in them.
band of brothers and generation kill were better shows

I enjoy it, a pretty good show. I would like to see some HBO miniseries in the future about the Korean War because you rarely hear about that aside from MASH reruns, and I know this is farfetched but you never see movies or tv shows about WWI

Great suggestion. Actors spouting off about history and politics or pretty much anything EXCEPT acting pisses me off to no end... most didn't finish high school, and I'm supposed to care about brilliant insight into anything?

I've been watching this with my guy. It's OK in my book, and he's a fan. He's more into history and the military stuff than I am, though.
