Come on, Sprockets - there are Disney-fied forums galore where people are going to be able to post about only the positive aspects of this guy and never to mention the negative. But if ever there was a personification of the highs and lows of a human being, it's Michael Jackson, which is part of the reason that people were so fascinated by him.

The guy did brilliant, amazing, joyful music and had a truly screwed-up personal life and did some horrible things to some very vulnerable young people.

That's the facts. There are things about his life to celebrate and there are things about his life to be flat-out horrified by.

With all the tv coverage + money they spent on trying to prove MJ was guilty they could of spent that time/money on helping 1,000 of other victims and stopping more pedophiles that are on the streets. I'm not saying they shouldn't have inspected Micheal Jackson, but they didn't need to spend all that time on him just because he was famous.

Im not a parent, but more importantly in this situation Im not a michael jackson fan, so Im not defending him blindly through love of his music or talent.

I would go so far to say he got what he deserved for what he did. Lost his fortune, his health, his home and now his life.

Lets say you know someone personally who is a child molester. Hes yoour neighbour, but hes let off the charges, for whatever reason. Are you gonna get up in his face pleading your case and standing on your moral highground?

Id even love to see you plead your arguement to a group of michael jackson fans and see whats left on the other side.

Frankly I dont care whats on the other side if I found out my neighbor was child molester even if let off the charges I keep a damn close eye on my kids when they were outside and they wouldnt be outside if i wasnt.

Simply put, the greatest performance artist since Elvis. He had an incomparable stage talent and a charisma that was off the charts.

I think he is an overall artist and in a discussion with someone like Pablo Picasso and Jackson Pollack and an athlete like Michael Jordan in terms of people who's artistic contribution supercedes everything else. Like Picasso's effect on Cubism and art, like Jackson Pollack's contribution to American painting, Michael Jackson created signature musical art that just was awe inspiring and trend setting.

I can forget the child molestation problems because they were not his fault. He became a "monster" because he ignited an unquenchable GLOBAL HUNGER for his celebrity. He was a media-constructed Frankensteinian Monster.

The pictures of the emaciated body, the pale skin, the carved nose and hollow cheeks....it just makes me sad to see.
