I was a bit painful to watch. Mercedes can't do no wrong, but Ferrari, you wrapped that up well... they are falling apart. As the commentators said on german tv, it begun with them telling Kimi his contract won't be prolonged, but please give Vettel your best support in Monza. Yeah, who would have thought that would not happen

More bumper cars from Magnussen and Verstappen, if Honda don't produce a decent engine next year we could see them duking it out more often.

Also at this rate and with Hamilton owing him a win, Bottas has a chance at 2nd in the championship now. I'm sure getting second isn't a big deal but its still something to aim for.

As far as 2019 is concerned, I'm really looking forward to seeing just how good Leclerc is in a top level car. I could easily see Vettel having a 2007 Alonsoesque meltdown next year if [NOBABE]the ***[/NOBABE] nips at his heels too hard.

Tick Tock, four days to go to the US GP, in Austin.

As we realize, this is very likely to be the race which makes Hamilton win his next championship, unless some major mishaps take place. Anyhow, the track makes for premium racing, and we will surely be entertained.

No surprises in Free Practice Sessions - Hamilton rules the race in Austin.

Pretty mundane FP3. But at least there was no rain. I have to leave, so I'll miss qualifying in about 30 minutes. Hoping that Hammy can go ahead and wrap this sucker up this weekend.

This is the starting grid:

--------------------------------
Hamilton | Raikkönen
Bottas | Riccardo
Vettel | Ocon
Hülkenberg | Grosjean

Best setup for a powerful race!

With Kimi on the faster tyres, it could be an interesting start...

Well, you got THAT right :coolthumb:

What a race for Kimi!

Regarding Sevastian... man, he just keeps making stupid moves. Nect race, Lewis just needs to ccome in 7th place, no matter, where Vettel ends, to become the championship winner

I'm watching some specialist videos
Fantastic to see Kimi get another win at last after so long. Max had an excellent race as well coming from near the back to take second.
It looks like Lewis should have changed tyres a few laps earlier but still drove a steady race, staying out of trouble at the start. All in all, it made for an exciting last 10 or so laps.

Even as a Hammy fan, I was really happy that Kimi won. What went through my mind, after Vettel spun (again!) and Kimi went on to win, was when Vettel justified his treatment of Webber during the "Multi 21" incident by saying, "he didn't deserve the win." I thought to myself, "pal, karma is kicking your ass sideways right now." Kimi deserved that win. He really did. The guy is one classy racer - even telling his team not to expect him to play any silly games when Hamilton was closing down on him after his initial stop. And on this I fully agree with Vettel: there is no bullshit about Kimi Raikkonen.

I have a feeling that if/when Verstappen gets in a competitive car, we'll all miss Kimi that much more. [NOBABE]The ***[/NOBABE] is as quick as all get out - that's for sure. But Dodgy is his middle name.

Was a great race. And Hamilton ****** up the ladder, making it to championship #5

Talking about Lewis Hamilton...

Now that Lewis has it wrapped up, I'm really pulling for Ricciardo to have a stellar race in Brazil. I'd **** to see these bizarre mechanical failures be something that damages his psyche longer term (like Vandoorne).

BTW, that's a great Hamilton interview, Supa. I didn't know that Trevor Noah knew anything about F1. I wonder how many people have become F1 fans just because of Hamilton?

Whenever they go to Brazil, I think of this race... and this man.

After travelling back... let's look into next season and what's after

In general:

Many tweaks to make racing more into a competitive sport, rather than creating a car package that outruns the other ones in qualifying and then finishes first, too. Is it a coincidence that they use the Mercedes car to show the changes? :stir:

Qualifying in Lagos has proven to be the weather game it was forecasted. Hamilton on Pole, and Vettel close behind. This is going to be another great race

Great race. Great fight after the race (well, more like two kittens fighting over a bowl of milk... but still). After watching qualifying, I was expecting both Hamilton and Vettel to lose grid positions because of violations. For the sake of the race, I'm glad that didn't happen, but I kind of feel like it should have.

I don't understand the rule that says that a driver can unlap himself. Let's say that Ocon had gotten by Verstappen cleanly. And in a couple of laps, let's say Verstappen had caught him again. Then, they would have shown Ocon the blue flags, right? In my brain, that rule makes no sense. I understand that Ocon may have been racing other people for position on the track and wanted to advance up the road. But when you're a lap down and you're around the leaders, you really should take extra care. Course, by the same token, when you're leading and you're being stalked by a faster, charging backmarker (especially one who doesn't like you to begin with ;), you have to think of the long game and not just be bound and determined to always stay in front of cars that you don't necessarily need to stay in front of. I think that's the advice that Lewis was trying to give young Verstappen after the race.

If Red Bull gets a powerful and competitive unit from Honda next year, I still don't see Verstappen taking the championship from Hamilton (or Vettel). On the radio and by his behavior, he's still too immature to deal with a seasoned vet over the course of a championship season. He's damn fast and very talented. But sometimes (under pressure) he seems to have the maturity/mentality of a 12 or 13 year old boy. :crybaby:

Racing comes to an end for 2018. The GP of Abu Dhabi is coming up:

Let's look back on last year's race:

I think I am not leaning too far out of the window (a german saying), if I predict:

Mercedes will cancel team order, now that the Championship is won, and Bottas won't be attacked THAT hard by Hamilton. He will be on the podium, for sure.
