Some good racing and great overtaking. The first lap was outstanding with Vettel getting past Lewis, but not being able to make it stick. Some pretty poor overtaking by Vettel - what was he thinking? At least Webber hung on for third. But I did like the fact that 2 Englishmen beat an Aussie. :D

i thought Jenson and Hamiliton were going to do a vettle and Webber when the bounced off each other but great stuff from them.

and from the way they reacted afterwards, it looks like they really enjoyed that bit of excitement. Might not have done if it had all gone Vettel (could we have a new word in the making? e.g. I really Vetteled that right up)

Yea I thought the same, nice to see some real racing for once. Best GP of the season to be honest!

The difference between Jenson and Hamilton vs Vettel and Webber is it was just part of the race. Either one of them would give way to the other if they had to.

You can see in the replay with Vettel, he wasn't going to give way to Webber at all. No idea what the man was thinking, but you could see during the podium that Webber was not a happy man. I have a feeling Vettel was pulled into a room and shown Jenson and Hamilton's overtaking as an example how you're supposed to do it.

Absolutely! Been a huge fan when I was young, watched occasionally when Schumacher was on his roll, but after that I abandoned F1 entirely from my viewing schedule (except for Monte Carlo, always watched that race). But since there's not really that much football right now I kept watching yesterday and what a great race that was. As far as Vettel goes, after his magnificent season he had last year and all the talk in Austria and Germany about he being the logical successor of Button, he got a little fed up with Webber being pretty much faster all the time this year. I'm not saying he crashed intentionally, but he just didn't wanna give in to him hoping Webber would make some room. Anyways, pretty sure they shouted it out already, maybe some shoving, but I think the team will handle this situation as it's supposed to be.

(Oh, and btw, I don't care at all to see Nicole Scherzinger dancing and hopping around in the McLaren box.)

Haha yea, it was nice to see Lewis do well and win a race after so long but with that said, I did feel for Webber but not too much after he did cause Hamilton a few places earlier in the season, just one of those things that happens when F1 is actually a race rather than a procession.

Some people in the UK believe it was the inexperience of the Red Bull drivers (in a sense that they are both in top title challenging positions and there is no clear No.1 driver), whereas Hamilton and Button have had challenges from within teams before with Rubens and Fernando in the past.

Seems Red Bull aren't committing or taking sides either yet : http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12433_6182099,00.html

Just hope we get at least 1 or 2 more races as exciting this season!!

I think it was extermely harsh of Red Bull to say that it was all Webber's fault, when he gave Vettel a cars width and Vettel tries to play chicken with him to get him to move over when Webber has the racing line

Just watched the "race edit" at the official formula one website, and it's crazy how Hamilton explicitly asks the team if Button will pass if he backs off the pace, and they reply "no" but not a minute later Button passes, and bviously the "save fuel" call was an implicit call to stop racing after what happened to Red Bull, but damn that must have been frustrating for Hamilton.

On a different note, Hamilton is easily the most exciting driver, but I'd like to see him grow up a little. Can he please get through a race without criticizing his team on the radio?

I think he did a fantastic job and he came out first place out of the race in Turkey!

Lewis Hamilton Q&A: I can't stop smiling

The Turkish Grand Prix saw a one-two victory, but not from the team that most had expected. For McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton it was his first win of the year and pushed him to within nine points of current championship leader, Red Bull’s Mark Webber. Hamilton discusses his Istanbul Park win and the joy of battling with his team mate Jenson Button…

Can't wait to see the Canada Grand Prix... Red Bull was going stromg during the first races, and Michael Schumacher was having a hard time getting back into the game, now things are chamging and the cards are mixed up again :nanner:

Regarding my earlier comment, seems I wasn't alone in finding the pass odd.

But on a completely different topic, I'll eat crow if Schumacher wins a race this year. The Mercedes car is just crap. Isn't it just amazing how a team can completely dominate the 2009 season and then just fall completely off the map? They're running the same engine as McLaren and yet they're way off the pace, even if you throw out the F-duct stuff.

Yes it is. And that is why F1 is still exciting. You can't take anything for granted, and if you are very good at racing, and buy a last-years motor and the guys with the spanking-brand new cars mess up - you can win.

O Canada, give us a great race :)

To be honest, I think it's part car being crap and part Schumacher just not being in prime racing condition. It would be interesting to see what would happen if you put Hamilton, Button, Webber, Vettel or one of the other cream of the crop in the car.

Agreed, if it's not his age, it's that he's just out of practice with cars that have changed since he left: weight distribution, wheel base length and tire size, slick tires, aerodynamics and so on.

Good race today, lots of action, passing and bumping all over the tack. Ferrari looks to have a little bit back, and Michael Schumacher got lapped out of the points.

Since we didn't get any rain, I was happy that tires were such an issue today. If they are going to get rid of refueling, tire management should be more of a challenge than it has been. The fact that some cars can pretty much last an entire race on one set of tires - in some cases the softs - seems to defeat the whole purpose of having different tire compounds and pit stops. I found it very interesting to watch and see how many laps the leaders were going to be able to last on obviously shredded tires. My preference would be for those kinds of tire management problems to be the norm in F1. Makes for a less predictable and more suspenseful outcome, for my money.

I was surprised that Lewis managed to get his last set of tyres to last, as he pitted early with the first set, and before the half way stage for his second and final stop. Great racing - this is what F1 should be about. Shumi being investigated for 2 incidents - wouldn't have happened in the old days, when he could do nothing wrong.

was impressed that hamilton managed to post a flying lap on some very worn tyres towards the end of the race, when Jenson was catching him up.
As for Shumi, the guy was running on soft tyres. would have been causing way too much oversteer and causing havoc with his braking
