The Oakland Raiders have released JaMarcus Russell.

Damn....you hoosiers are a sensitive lot. Is THIS better???

:D

Much better. :) I just didn't want anyone to get the impression that Leaf was taken before Manning. At the time, people said the Colts were crazy for taking Peyton. Leaf was supposed to be the sure fire superstar. And he might have been if he learned to throw the ball to his own damn guys instead of the other team. I think that picking Manning turned out okay...

I knew Russel was going to be a bust when he was drafted. I also know (wish and pray) that Tebow will be a bust.

The Chargers were kinda forced into taking Leaf after Manning went off the board.

Leaf was predicted to be the #1 pick. Manning had a crappy senior year and Leaf was thought to be in better shape.

The Colts pick surprised a lot of people.

I'll admit I don't know for sure but I'd still be willing to bet that Timmeh has already got you beat in that praying department. :D

I too hope he fails. Can't stand him.

I'm going to laugh my ass off when some team picks him up and he's a beast.

He's got a completion percentage of 52% career. Last year his percentage was 48%, while the league average was nearly 55%. There's no way around it, he's a terrible quarterback.

Yes, but I want to tell him that I prayed for him to fail, and he did. So that means that God, like nearly everyone else, hates him.

Shouldn't we wait until Tebow actually plays before we demonize him? :dunno: What if he actually does make a decent QB in the NFL? He shouldn't have been drafted in the 1st round, but, let's give the guy a chance. I don't think Tebow is a phony religious guy. I think he's immature. I see plenty of "prayer circles" in the NFL after games, same with college. :dunno: I think if Tebow becomes an NFL star--the religious side will fall away. He'll become a star athlete. Corporate sponsors will tell him that his religious views aren't wanted. He'll keep them quiet.

Some of these recent NFL QB busts really have gotten a raw deal coaching wise. The Raiders have had nothing but coaching embarrassments since Chucky Gruden left them. How the hell would JaMarcus expect to develop under the clown carrousel they've had for coaches.

Look at Buffalo. How will any athlete be able to be a winner under Chan Gailey :rofl: Trent Edwards really has no chance there now...

Most busts are on teams that suck anyway. Look at the busts recently. Russell, Couch, Carr, Alex Smith, Quinn etc. Then look at the QB's that have succeeded. Rothleisburger, Rivers, Manning, Rodgers, Sanchez, Henne, Ryan. Decent teams. Some championship caliber. The guys that succeed were given a chance to develop. Not just thrown to the wolves with no O-Line, running game or receivers. I think the front office is to blame for most busts in sports, not the player.

^
The chances of Sam Bradford living up to the hype are not good...:( :thefinger

:1orglaugh Nope. Hopefully they don't play him though. I don't care who the QB is, they should sit on the bench for a couple seasons and learn the NFL game. It's be nice to have consistency in the offense too.

I would also put the Charles Rodgers pick up there with Russell and Leaf in terms of bust. He was the worst of the worst in the long sting of very bad picks by Matt Millen.

Before you get too proud of the Manning pick you should keep in mind that the Colts were very seriously considering taking Leaf, and almost did. They didn't know that Leaf would turn out as bad as he did or that Manning would be as good as he has become.

:partysml: Finally, that lazy douche is gone. It was a nice draft for the Raiders and now with Russell gone, things are starting to look up for the Silver and Black.

I think you might be too quick to say that Sanchez has succeed. With the exception of a handful of games last year Sanchez was terrible, and was one of the worst starters in the league. It is still to be seen if he will succeed in the long term. For a long time Rothleisburger was pretty bad also, and the team won more despite of him with a strong defense than anything he ever did. Last year was his first real good year. (It might have also been his last to.)

You're right, he was worst than the likes of Delhomme, Smith, Bulger, Quinn and Edwards. People lend far too much credence to the idea that a team's record is directly correlated to their quarterback.

That's good. No one wants to be held captive.

Damn, I was really hoping we'd keep him. He was this close to going over the hump. As a Raiders fan, a truly sad day....................... XD XD XD
