the metal music thread :banger:

Anthrax: the first Metal band I ever became a fan of, way back when "State of Euphoria" came out.

i've been listening to the comcast metal station a lot lately...it's actually surprisingly decent

Yeah, me too. But I have complaints about it.
In Metal's 30+ years, it has developed countless subgenres, and they try to cram it all into one little channel.
Meanwhile there are like 10 rap/hip-hop/urban/old school/blablabla channels,
Classic country/modern country/western/bluegrass/etc.
You know, all these others have several channels while Metal is crammed into just one.
This is wrong.

true...but on the other hand with metal being less popular these days it allows for metal to be metal rather than a commercialized watered down version of itself...like remember a few years back when 'punk' was popular then you ended up with shit like avril lavigne 'the punk princess'...if metal was as popular as rap there'd be an equivalent 'metal princess'

Here are some of the better/underrated metal acts around in my opinion

Knut

Coalesce

Vektor

Dystopia (No longer around, but they are probably one of the rawest bands I know)

You should consider yourself a lucky man. Where I live we don't have ANY metal or rock channels whatsoever (unless you consider that british indie they cram down my throat as proper rock). It seriously hindered my musical growth as a listener and since none of my friends like metal I basically had to rely only on myself to find new bands and genres I like.

Yeah, I know it can be worse. Sorry. It was actually the same for me. It was always just by word-of-mouth. It still pretty much is, but before having internet, it was even harder. I couldn't say none of my friends liked metal. One did. Needless to say, that was my longest-standing friend over the years.

otep is my lesbian metal goddess :D

She's awesome! And hot! And, well, lesbian! :D She also happens to kick major ass live. Saw them last yr. Killer show!

I been on a black metal fix as of late, Emperor, Ov Hell, Cradle of Filth, triptycon, etc.

Right now, thought, i am listening to the new In this Moment. Damn good album! Oh, and Maria Brink is HOT!!!
