That's true. We in America get most of our oil from Canada and Mexico, with the Middle East someplace down the list. But for some reason, when the shit hits the fan in the Middle East and oil prices go up for us over here too. So I guess that would be the only reason America does have troops over there to protect our interests and prevent the shit from really hitting the fan.
But from that point of view, are our boys are just fighting and dying to keep the supply of oil open for....the Chinese? :dunno: It kind of makes you see things in a different perspective, maybe the Chinese should send its boys over there to deal with Iran the next time those nutjobs decide to throw another tantrum, after all, keeping that region peaceful is in their own best interests since a huge chunk of that supply of oil goes their way. And by the way, who do you think Iran would prefer to deal with, the U.S.A. or the P.R.C.? That would be sort of like asking a petty criminal who does he prefer to deal with, the cops or the mafia? And if for some reason the Iranians keep throwing their tantrums, just offer the Chinese the assistance they need to invade Iran and do the dirty job America is too afraid to do because of the opinion some hippies might have about that.
