I had a 2 ½ hour drive home from work yesterday and was just pondering (kind of like Jack Handey’s Deep Thoughts )…
Treason:
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.
Sedition:
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
Logan Act:
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply, himself or his agent, to any foreign government or the agents thereof for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.
I don’t see how the open letter would be guilty of any of these things. The open letter isn’t a correspondence, since there was no exchange of communication. (Ask me and I’ll tell you how Thomas Jefferson is guilty of at least the third)
Perhaps what we have is just fear and hate of anyone that doesn't think the same way we do. Both sides of the issue. We've been here before and it is just sad.

This was not a violation of the Logan Act the Senators represent the US. The wheels are starting to come off the Obama presidency, Clinton candidacy. It is at times like this that liberals are the most entertaining. A Repub will win in 2016 and it is going to be enjoyable watching libs curled up in a corner in the fetal position.

My dad was a 2nd Company Force Recon Marine who saw action in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He used to tell us about feeling the jet blast from a helicopter when he made his jumps and wondered if it would be his last. When he was deployed, we would hug him and cry because we didn't know if we would come back alive. So don't come iin here telling us how we want war because it gives us a hard on.
