The Iraq War, Was It Worth It?

I don't think it was worth it.

Full disclosure, I was for it at the start. That changed in the summer of 2004 with the Shia uprising. I thought we had just deposed their mortal enemy in Saddam but it turns out he was just their immediate foe. It's clear who their mortal enemy is.

North Korea has confirmed WMDs, hates the U.S., supports our enemies yet we would never consider invading them preemptively.

It's a sad fact that there are some bastard dictators in the world but it's the known evil. Saddam was a secular tyrant which is preferrable to the mullahs of Iran which he was a major thorn in the side of.

After spanking his ass in the Gulf War we could've reigned him in as our junkyard dog like China has in North Korea.

Egypt and Libya had ruthless dictators before their new governments tookover, and they were going to kill many innocent people, if the West did nonthing. I have been to Saudi Arabia many time and I have seen the Talibans work in Afghanistan. Those new governments are based on current policies aren't radical muslim governments. Yes, they will placate the radical muslims because they've big followings in those countries. Obama needs to stop destabilizing the Pakistani government with our drone strikes. If radicals come to power their we're in deep trouble.

Yeah, Islamist extremists are more powerful in the those countries, but I don't see major government backing of extremists in those countries. Besides Pakistan is a bigger threat to world stability then those three countries combined. Islamists could get their hands on nuclear weapons, if the Pakistani government fell.

Thousands of people are dying every day in Libya, Christians are being prosecuted, murdered and expropriated of their properties in Egypt. Radical muslims have taken the power. They have brought radical muslims to a spit from the coasts of Spain and Italy and God only knows how many terrorists enter Europe as refugees every day.

The U.S. will use the same neutral policy on Saudi Arabia, like it has for decades. The Saudi royal family has several things that are in their favour. They probably have the probably the most radicalized population in the Islamic world. Saudi society is far from the UAE and even present day Egypt. Saudi Arabia has two of the three holiest places in Islam. And its the leading oil exporter in the world. The West wants the current Saudi regime to last at all costs.

I was in the U.S. military, and it doesn't bother me. We are well protected. I still feel better in Saudi Arabia then most places; its just a well run police state.

Yes, all those things may be happening, but they don't look like they are government backed. The same things happen in Iraq once Saddam fell. Those groups you are talking about are taking advantage of a new governments. Many people would've die in Egypt and libya, if the West did nonthing. Millions of people died in Rwanda, the Congo, and Sudan while the West did nonthing, and most of those people were Christians.

I totally agree with you Sabrina + I think, these IDIOTS should keep their fingers out there . But I think, Obama is better than Bush-Baby ever was, but Obama is not able to fixup anything in 10 minutes that Mr. Bush had destroyed in 2 periods . And I still think that Hillary would have being the better president for the USA , especially with the help from her hubby Bill , ...where the US-economy had completely a CLEARED BUDGET.
