Well then, don't cry to us to save your asses if Arabia nukes you off the map, or invades your country in the foreseable future for natural resources and foodstuffs, etc., when the global population is in the tens of billions (which is probably possible), if they don't just take over your fucking countries and making Islam law, when they outbread you as your immigration laws permit.

Oh, come on, Scott, are you taking the piss? A bit of humour, please. Try a bit of solidarity instead of slagging people off. I gave an opinion that was relevant to the thread and wasn't intending to be well-received by everyone - it's an opinion, that's all. It wasn't an invitation to slag off a continent that includes many of America's personal friends and political allies.

One of the dumbest statements i have ever read...Obama a few weeks ago said that the 1910 Model T got better gas mileage than SUV's today. "we had the technology then." 12-20mpg. Well current SUV's average 18.5. The difference? The 1910 model t weighed 1,200 pounds. It had gas taillamps, no safety equipment. In short the government wouldn't allow it to be sold today.
This is why I don't discuss politics with Americans.
Untrue and you know that. Bush fucked up big time, he should have not get re elected in 2004! Kerry would have not been that radical like Obama is right now, don't you get it? Obama has a grudge agaisnt this country he put's the U.S. down and apoligizes to the world that we are sooo bad!

What does it matter? Seriously what doesn it matter if the US "saved our asses", which is the statement I hear most often. Isnt it more important to you as it is to the rest of us that this great evil was brought down? Or are the cheap points made by those kind of statements better than the knowledge that at two times in the recent past a group of nations came together to fight for what is right.

Wow. Here's the problem "don", the previous administration came into office with the attitude that we're the boss of the world and as such we can do whatever we want. Screw you (you're either with us or you're against us). By the end or their 8 years they apparently realized it wasn't just that simple as our president was running around begging for troops and money to help fix his mismanagement. The first step of any reconciliation is to acknowledge your wrong. If you can't do that how do you hope to get it right?

When countries are going bankrupt (Iceland), economies are collapsing (America, and a lot of other places), people are blowing themselves up (Iraq, and Afghanistan), my county is being invaded, the ocean is losing its fish populations, and foodstuffs are not going to meet population demands in the future, I'm sorry but it's not too great a place. I'm ready for when the SHTF, but for that, I guess I'm just a loon, huh.
When you inherit problems that leave you nothing but bad choices...any choice you take will be fodder for criticism by your opponents.
That's all this nonsense amounts to IMO. Not one policy Obama has enacted has had time to materialize into any result, positive or negative.
All presidents nominate appointees that don't pan out for one reason or another...to try and claim credit for that as having identified a fuck up is like trying to take credit for the sun coming up in the morning.

There's plenty going wrong and you're plenty sane (seemingly); I just can't take all these doomsday people seriously. I'm not going to get into Bush-bashing but I'm SO confused by people who think Obama isn't a step up. I mean... :dunno::dunno::dunno: Seriously. But then there were people that were actually happy in '04 with Bush (a lot, since I'm Southern) and I'll never understand that fact about them.
