No matter if something is legal or not there is always going to be a group who try to stop it. It is just like guns, though allowed in the 2nd amendment, people still try to ouwlaw them.

sorry guys but repeatedly, the U.S. Supreme Court has confirmed that obscenity, child pornography and materials harmful to minors are not protected by the First Amendment.

the right to free speach is all well and good, but much more important is the right to not be victimised. I don't really give a shit who you are or what you do if you advocate sexual assault or child abuse then you have the right to get your ass beat down

Yes child pornography is against the law and showing porn to minors is also. But what the Bush admin is doing is making 2257 regs so difficult to follow as to force many websites out of business, and is attempting to raise the standard on obscenity to essentially a playboy level. Goodbye all hardcore porn. I personally find the work of Max Hardcore distasteful, I don't care to watch women being demeaned (though I do not doubt that it IS consensual). Ask yourself if you like Freeones, I do and I certainly do not want to go to jail for visiting the site.

It doesn't say they are going after child porn offenders, it states that they are going after legal porn,
"Based on a review of past successful cases in a variety of jurisdictions," the memo said, the best odds of conviction come with pornography that "includes bestiality, urination, defecation, as well as sadistic and masochistic behavior."

For those of you who like squirting that will probably become a no-no in the Puritanical States of America too (aka Jesusland).

Just ask yourself, are you willing to let Cytherea go out of work?

I couldn't live with that on my conscious

That was my point in the Max Harcore's threat, hedgehog. We're on the same page.
Although I don't want to see Max leading the fight to my right to watch my kind of porn. I don't like his kind of work, but censorship is more repulsive.

I wouldn't worry much, freedom of speech and the defending of the first amenedment has always been a big issue. Next the Democrats will step in and oppose Bush and the FBI to better the way they look with the voters. In my opinion their little groups will take quite awhile to make any significant changes. But thats just my :2 cents:

What's next? I just love this comment in the artice;
"I guess this means we've won the war on terror," said one exasperated FBI agent, speaking on the condition of anonymity because poking fun at headquarters is not regarded as career-enhancing. "We must not need any more resources for espionage."
Among friends and trusted colleagues, an experienced national security analyst said, "it's a running joke for us".

I'm glad to see the guys on the ground aren't taking it all to seriously.

But that's the problem Colonel, the guys on the ground may not be, but the policy makers are. So what we have is the administration diverting manpower and funding from the War on Terror (I have this distrust of wars against nouns), to purchase and watch porn. I admit, it wouldn't be a bad job, but come on...

I can see that, but when was the last time some bureaucrat make arrests. They can make all the policy changes, reforms or what ever they want to call it. It's up to the agents on the ground to investigate and make the cases. It's sort of like when the D.A. just doesn't want to prosecute a case. It won't be prosecuted no matter how much the officers bitch and moan. I'll start worrying when the Agents start taking enforcement seriously.

This is what happens when 2/3 of the American people who can vote don't because they could care less, and what happens when the Congress fails in its consitutional duty to impeach the President, or any other office holder when they tramp on the Constitution/break the law, and attack the peoples freedom.

"...to gather evidence against "manufacturers and purveyors" of pornography -- not the kind exploiting children, but the kind that depicts, and is marketed to, consenting adults."

They are defenetly looking for the wrong guys.

Way to stay On Topic!

yes I am staying on topic, since I think the subject is about what our constitutional rights are. the way I see it this whole thing is wild speculation and i've not seen the creator of freeones or other adult site operators that I know talking abotu how they are getting shut down, I don't see the FBI busting through the window right now...

what I have seen are sites that DO engage in illegal actvity, the big one was a site that was posting copyrigthed material without permission, they got a little heat and they consented to taking down the site and admitted that they were in the wrong... well someone else found out about it and made a big fuss about Big Brother stepping on our rights and going after the porn community. it seems to me that this may be a similiar case.

so this means that if we want hardcore (not the max's kind) we only can get it from europe?

what about Aurora, Cytherea, Teegan, Tory? they going to be ban.... sucks.

Even if some of the people on the ground don't want to go through all the trouble of enforcing some things, it will allow whatever administration is in charge to "cherry pick" cases they want to prosecute because they think they are now allowed to. They will have to power to find somebody to do it, if they want to take it that far. Then they will be able to make an example of some people and the rest will always have to be worried about who will be next on the list. Fewer people will want to make pornography because they will have to always watch over there back.

I have something to say about pornography. And i am from asia, its totally banned here, but every one watch a pornography movie, its common, but the law says NO.

What happens....a demand is created...it becomes expensive...it becomes interesting...lol

In another words, child porno should be banned, but there is no problem with adult.

if some one wants to see, let them see, if some one wants to make a movie let them make. If you say no to that then you are going to hinder his freedom.....again i ask are we really FREE.

Let me conclude: its not a joke: its real:

once my uncle told me ....You know we have to teach our children about sex,,,,if not they will put their tool in the wrong places !
