I measure in cubic inches so this shite means zero to me!

Three fookin Twenty rubber burnin' Seven ! :hatsoff:

yup precisely...plus if you're mechanically inclined and have some tools the basic tune-up and minor work that a lot of used cars tend to need works out to be pretty cheap as well...

Then all of your friends and family members are hitting you up to do work on their cars for bargain rates, sure, how about they all chip in and install me a vehicle hoist with a concrete pad, I'm never gonna spend another weekend getting up and down off of the ground again ! :thefinger:1orglaugh

That's about the only ''tool'' that I could add to my portfolio, a hunkin vehicle hoist, the old style, you know, the single center telescoping ram like old gas - service stations used to have, the same kind of hoist that destroyed my pal's black on black '67 Mustang. Actually it was his damn fault for leaving a railroad tie under a frame crossmember overnight . . and ya know about hydraulics, they have a tendency to retract, well, he comes back the next day and his clean, all stock look hi po musty is upside down on it's roof ! . . . :write off:

I'm not even a Ford guy but that was a neat machine.
Ahh, memories

Whoopsy! 'Didn't mean to drift the thread ! :o

I have had my Lexus GS300 for over 10 years. It has a 3 litre straight 6, is not great on mpg, but apart from a brake system problem has been totally reliable. It is extremely comfortable to drive and I love it.

That's odd, Toyota was manufacturing both inline - 6 and V - 6's, both 3.0L displacement at the same time ?

Oh jesus christ why is everytime someone says that they have a car/truck that doesn't get good gas milage some other idiot brings up the old dick size issue. Do yourself a favor pal stop believing the environmentalist whackos they are so full of shit it's amazing.

I purposely buy gas guzzling trucks I like to think it's my way of pissing the environmentalists off. :D

I don't know if that isn't even stupider than getting a big car to compensate for feeling uncertain ybout your manhood.

Getting fat cars to piss off people, ruining the environment and blowing money out of the window, that is setting new standards.

Americans don't know how to make cars, they don't know how to drive cars, and they've now proven to not even know anything about them ...

Enter the 2010 Cadillac CTS V-Series Sedan, Coupe and Wagon.

It is as good as anything out there right now in its class.

American cars have come along way since the truley crappy products of 70-80-Early 90's era.

No, I have a feeling that the 4L unit in GS400 is a V8, but the the 3L is inline-6.

The 3.0 I-6 was used in the older IS model's and the V-6 is now used in the newer ones. a V-6 was used in the ES models in the same timeline, it is sourced from the Camry for the NA market. Yes the V-8 in the GS started at a 4.0 and now it is a 4.6.
Hence GS430 or GS400.

They've improved, but it was their shit products that put them all in bankrupcy. The sad thing now is you couldn't work on a newer friggin car without a 21st century auto shop in your garage. They don't make them like they used to. Even my 2.4 in my GM is an absolute nightmare to work on at times. I just saved $400 by putting in a new starter, but I will say this, I KNOW why they wanted $400. Fucking thing was seriously a nightmare. God forbid my fuel pump goes out next, because from the Chilton's if my memory serves me I'll have to lift it and get the tank out to get at it. Fortunately the alternator is right where I can get at it, so that will be a breeze.

Mine's a second gen GS300 - 1998 - NA market differed slightly in the models at the time - there was no ES in the UK only LS and GS models. IS came in at 2L (or 2.2L diesel) to begin with in 1999.

This probably highlights the NA market for larger engines to a certain extent.

Cars are designed for quick, easy and cheap assembly.Maintenance other than routine work is a secondary consideration. Many cars need a specialist workshop to even change a bulb.

Yeah, the American way. With lots of plastic siding crap for lots of salt to get into so bodies rust out real nice, also the American way. Seriously cars are a real pain, and the only way to work on them is either: 1) have lots of money; or 2) trial and error.

If that's accurate, it's SO '70s GM! All the imports I know put an access plate in the trunk and you pull the Fuel Pump out of the tank from the top.

The smallest engine I have of my 3 is a 4.6L DOHC.

'cause my mum has a '2000 ES 300 V-6. :dunno::hatsoff:

Oh, never mind, I just read EAH's post.

The ES was never sold as a Lexus in the European market. I think that it was left as the Camry, but you are right in that the ES had the Camry V6 engine.

It's interesting how the Japaneese cars are badged differently in the US versus the UK. My wife has an Acura TSX which I believe is the European spec Honda Accord. I guess it comes down to who is the larger consumer. I have heard that Honda's are bought by a mostly older crowd in the UK. In the US they are marketed to younger people.

Not only in the US but in Europe same kinda bullshit. My partner has a 3 Ltr. 2008 BMW station turbo diesel, powerful car. But the only thing he can do by himself is : Bring it to a BMW-workshop if he has problems. They * hang * it onto their computer-test-system and *change chips * ...they´re not motor-mechanics no more but * chip-changers* ....grrrrrr:confused::confused:
