Another really potentially dangerous issue is that with bluetooth and so on wireless communications, you can mess with people's cars. It's been done.

Depends on how stupid the manufacturer is. Do they cross the critical control systems with entertainment busses?
It's interesting how the Japaneese cars are badged differently in the US versus the UK. My wife has an Acura TSX which I believe is the European spec Honda Accord. I guess it comes down to who is the larger consumer. I have heard that Honda's are bought by a mostly older crowd in the UK. In the US they are marketed to younger people.
The problem is that most American car buyers today grew up in the '80s, when Hondas were the ultimate, and Toyotas were very reliable as well. Then there is the assumptions on domestic quality and, God help us, fuel economy.

You can't "prove" to the new generation that GM has a more fuel efficient line than Honda or Toyota, no matter what you show them. The main thing the "Big 3" is guilty of is putting a huge mark-up on SUVs and marginalizing their cars, which is now biting them in the rear.

I only own 4-cylinder cars. I have only owned 4-cylinder cars. I will always own only 4-cylinder cars.

But if I wanted the highest performing, most fuel efficient performance engine, naturally aspirated GM LS engines are the best. It's ironic dat'ole pushrod tends to be the best on fuel economy and performance (before we even look at torque). Really, really exposes how taxes on displacement are stupid and self-defeating.
