The do most US of A citizens drive cars with 4L engines thread

Maybe I'm wrong, but the impression I get of US cars, is that even a grandma will be likely to push a 4L lump of unecessarily sized metal around. I would say that in England the average car would be around 1.6-2L, but my impression is that 2L is maybe considered to be a small engine in the US, here we have like1.1L's, and people actually drive them around. Are 1.1's even sold in America? and what's an average size engine? what's small? and what's actually considered big over there?

:helpme::dunno::crying:

Americans don't know how to make cars, they don't know how to drive cars, and they've now proven to not even know anything about them ...

You might have somewhat of a point with your first and last statements, but as far as not knowing how to drive them...well there's that statement they say about people that live in glass houses.

Only 4 liters? That ain't shit.

Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all right. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some fuckin' muscle.

Fascinating thread.

Any psychiatrist would enjoy this one...

The classic Big Car issue - God forbid I get a smaller, rationally smarter one. Because then you loose your Mojo, right? Your dick shrinks down to 1", right?

With all of the energy crisis in our world, and in your country, you still do not see what you need to do?

I pity you.

The point is that engine development has moved on,modern units are producing lots more horsepower for the capacity than even a few years ago. What they don't give is the lazy ease of a big motor but they don't swallow the gas at the same rate either.
As for Carrol Shelby, he went to a small London car maker to design and build his Cobra.

My car doesn't have a bottom so I just use my feet to push it around. It goes about 70 mphs this way and it's highway safe.

Got rid of the Ranger 4.0 L V6 for a Focus.....2.0L, and almost 2.5 times the mileage.......happy camper now! And goddamn proud to be an American.

You done the right thing, mate: And you really are helping to save the country.

Wrong. That fucking douche bag made not ONE good point. Not one. And you, my friend, are treading on dangerously close treasonous ground by even somewhat agreeing with him at all. Fuck. All. That.

America fucking rocks. :thefinger

The only thing I tried to "save" was gas money. That's it. If you want to believe that fucking bullshit about greenhouse gases and global warming and we need to save the planet, then by all means, go ahead and do so......I did it to simply save money.

That's it.

Just to put up a random fact, but some cars are so clean that the dirty air (California) going in comes out cleaner after going through the car, but like I said this is in really dirty cities.

It's not even about climate. It's basically just saving energy that is wasted with those ridiculous big-block trucks.

The smarter equation for people moving versus oil burned for this job.

well shit...i've a feeling some people would hate the fuck out of me if i spoke up about the rigs i drive...

You live in Alaska... It may be needed sometimes it can come down to life or death if you have a 1L car. It's sometimes better to have more power, but I'm not 100% sure on cars, so I may be wrong.

I would think in Alaska it would be better to have a better car as it is in Minnesota. I see weaker cars always getting stuck on the side of the road while I power along in a 2000 when they have a new 2009 or 2010 car.
