The devil came down to freeones...

We've had plenty of threads on the board discussing religion at length, but it wasnt until I saw a trailer on tv that struck me with an interesting question.

It was a trailer for that new exorcism movie, the voice over asked -

"If you believe in a god, then you must believe in the devil"

I've never seen it asked on the board anywhere, so I would ask that question. If you believe in a god (This part is crucial), do you believe in the devil?

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
They only super powerful creature I believe in is Xenu. Because transporting people to volcanoes in DC-8s, blowing them up with hydrogen bombs, and then capturing their souls in order to force them to watch movies for 36 days makes way more sense to me than Christianity ever did.

Some dude walked on water, healed a dead man, turned water into wine, and resurrected himself after three days? Right...

Vlad The Impaler

Power Slave
I see this. Getting completely out of control.

I don't believe in God or Satan. But I think there is hell on earth, and
when you leave it you go to somewhere better.Although you won't
know much about it or the life you have just had :)

PlasmaTwa2

The Second-Hottest Man in my Mother's Basement
I believe in Satan. I saw him drinking Grand Mariner in a bar in Mississippi once. Cool guy.

"If you believe in a god, then you must believe in the devil"

That is taken directly from Roman Catholic doctrine. It asserts that Satan and his minions exist just as God exists.

It is precisely why the church actively investigates possession and performs exorcisms.

Like the great philosopher, musician, and actor Tom Waits said "There is no devil only God when he's drunk."

Nope. The evil that man does is of his own free will and not some evil external influence, none of this 'the devil made me do it' nonsense.

... the movie 'The Exorcism Of Emily Rose' is based on this case.

Yes...he is Al Pacino and a runs a law firm.

Religions are just lies made by some men to control the mass.

There's no God and no Devil.
