I don't provide defenses or opinions, just considerations not made ...
I am more concerned with the fact that though I was speaking of an event (Rwanda) that had absolutely nothing to do with George W. Bush and Iraq; you saw fit to yet again bring them into this discussion anyway.
Yes, because we've
repeated history there too!
As per usual, I find your American political opinions tend to lean to wards looking at things through conservative coloured glasses in general and American rose coloured glasses in particular.
Huh? Did you read what I said? Or assumed what I said?
I was
not defending the US, and rather
agreeing that we make some very poor judgements and people die as a result.
I was adding some perspectives and considerations that you had clearly not included.
If anything, just take them a "good explanation,"
not an excuse or defense. Okay?
It is unfortunate that you seem to be guided by this perspective. Whereas I have equal distaste for virtually all mainstream politicians, be they liberal or conservative. (And I consider myself a citizen of Earth first. And a Canadian second.)
I'm neither, and if you would stop to realize that I think like an American Libertarian, not a Liberal or Conservative, you realize that.
I
never voted for Clinton or W., and I do
not feel any reason to 'defend" either.
In fact, I often take the time to
explain their follies, considerations that some people don't know about.
It has little to do with "being a conservative" or "being an American."
If I'm guilty of anything, it's being a "cold blooded capitalist" in how I conduct business.
At the same time, when it comes to helping people
with my own money, I'm a bleeding heart, much to the dislike of my wife (who comes from a dirt-poor family).
In fact, I think we had this
same conversation in the "Moon Landings were faked" thread where you said I was biased because I'm a former NASA engineer.
I might be just as biased, but
all I tried to do was add perspective and consideration, not excuses or defense or something else.
And to that end, "labeling" people
hardly does anything for anyone, much less understanding.
Hence I can state my complete disgust for the handling of said Rwandan genocide by the spineless Clinton Administration.
And
where did I not FULLY AGREE?
All I did was try to explain much of it, and tie it into the other follies of the American leadership, especially in retrospect as well as futurespect.
As for your opinion as to the reason for the West's lack of action in Rwanda?
I will simply add that if you are right, then it makes their inaction all the more despicable.
Agreed! When did I say otherwise or do we otherwise have a problem?
I think sometimes people -- especially yourself -- don't actually read what I say, and assume I'm answering from the aforementioned and alleged "conservative" standpoint.
If you'd actually read what I'd say, I believe you'd find you agree with me far more than you disagree.
I'm
not here to judge, only to
point out a perspective that people have not considered.
It is
not a defense, just a consideration -- and that's all!
Instead of calling me a "biased" NASA engineer, American and other things, and applying labels so you can "discredit" any consideration of my viewpoint, maybe, just maybe you should sit back and say, "ah, now that's some insight."
Especially on the NASA thread -- that one still has me scratching my head, especially after you (among others) admitted several times you had no idea what I was talking about.
Perspective, experience, consideration -- it's not about "opinions," it's about simply what they are, perspective, experience, consideration.
Don't be so quick to disregard them merely because you don't believe what you are hearing -- in fact, if you open your mind enough, it might just make sense.
