The Biden Presidency

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
What firearms issue did Biden have a while back??
And don't insult pigs by referring to them as socialists.
I posted a thread about it. It's in this section somewhere.

I read the article.
What serious crime did Hunter Biden commit, and how was his father involved??

Why wasn't Republican Rep. Madison Cawthorn allowed to carry a gun in his bag?

Mr. Daystar

Well to start with, because of his past, he isn't supposed to have one. We'll start there. If it isn't a crime, the left wants it to be.....unsafe storage of a firearm. I don't know the local laws, from where this happened, so it might be legal to throw guns away, but hey, if a kid, or a criminal get there hands on it, no biggie, right?

His father is involved because he's his father, and he's in the public eye. That's they way it worked when baby bush's daughters were being little tramps, that's the way it is now.

Because you are strictly forbidden from bringing firearms into airports. If you carry a gun, and you drop your loved ones off, at the curb, you're good, but you can't cross the threshold. If you want to transport a gun on a plane, you need to make arrangements, and you can't ship ammo with it. You need to buy it where you're going, or UPS/FedEx it to a friend/relative, if you have one, where you're hunting.

Looks like Joe is contemplating using his Executive Authority to waive a little student loan debt. If he keeps the momentum, November may not be so bad. Of course, if he only forgives $10k, he will get hammered for not doing $20k, $50k, etc. 🤷‍♂️

He might have a lot bigger of an issue on his hands...like a country full of angry women. If he's gonna start making laws or changing laws, with executive order, he should be worrying about this, and not the 2nd Amendment. This has the potential to totally fuck this country up, and quite frankly, I'm getting very tired of hearing about it. The law was passed, it went to the SCOTUS once, it's done, it's legal, as it should be. Move the fuck on to more pressing issues. It could also really fuck over republican candidates, and their chance to win in the mid-terms.

He's hearing backlash from conservatives and so like a typical weak-kneed Democrat he's not going to go bold. He'll most likely means test it. Wipe out all debt or a certain amount for everyone who makes under 80K or something like that

I don't find it very fair that tax payers have to pay for peoples collage debt, the tax payers pay for the local schools already. I wouldn't mind if he were able to make them interest free loans, by getting rid of that. If this is going to happen, I suggest they trim the the salaries of elected officials, and use that money. Most of them already have more then they need, they don't earn what we pay them, let them each donate 1 years salary to the effort to help.

Why do you even consider higher education to be mysteriously different than any other type of education anyhow? It makes no sense. There is no logical reason to have a arbitrary cutoff line. If we pay for education because it's what our society needs, and have payed for it in some form for a long time now, why not pay for peoples' education to the completion of what our society fully needs to make as many people as possible as prosperous and happy as possible?

I can maybe see a case of offering things based on need and course of study, like paying for STEM courses much more over something like an art appreciation because of legitimate differences in importance to the functioning of our society.

As far as paying for other people's stuff, so what? We do that all the time. I don't bitch if I have to pay for other people's children to attend school even if I don't have any attending. I don't bitch if my taxes have to go to fix a bridge or road that needs it even if I might never drive over it in my entire life. I don't bitch if I have to help pay for the local police or fire department when it's unlikely I will ever use them. The stuff I bitch about is when some well off business or rich person gets things they don't actually need to the detriment of most of the rest of society. Taxes are the price for society. That humans help each other is the primary reason civilization even exist, and I like having a functioning civilization. I also like the continued advancement of the intelligence and knowledge our species has.

Here's another idea of why we should absolve people of education debt, just like we should with medical debt also. That is because it was something they should never of had to get in the fist place. Them being in debt for that was a failure of the country that was supposed to support them. I would be more harsh against them if the went out and bought a new sports car or gigantic house they couldn't afford and are suffering for it, but it's not that. It's all even worse when one keeps in mind for how long the notion of expensive higher education as the only means to make it was shoveled onto kids and now even some of them with advanced jobs might never be able to pay it off because the system is so screwed up.

I also realize absolving debt is just fixing the symptom and not the full problem in that we need to also make education cheaper and more reasonable, but that isn't also a reason to not and try and fix what we can.

Well, I do bitch, it bothers me, it's taxation, without representation, and I pay enough taxes. If you want to go to collage, pay for it, just like I think high school sports programs should be funded by the players parents, and not the parent of the kid those jocks pick on. If you can't afford to go to collage, get a job doing something menial, the world needs ditch diggers too. How many of the collage graduates that have there hands stuck out, have good jobs, and make a higher salary then I do? Like I said, make them interest free, that'll save a few bucks, but even then, the banks will scream about losing money, and then the government will have to use tax dollars to bail them out. I'm tired of all the years I've worked, and having little to show for it. I'm also tired of hearing a bunch of whiney millennia's, and gen. z'ers, crying about everything. I'm tired of the self entitlement, and complaining of having to actually do real work. Like I said, if you can't afford collage, that's sad, but it isn't my fault.

I've heard a lot of people saying Biden has X-O authority to cancel student loan debt, I assumed Article 1 § 8 enumerated that power to congress, but a closer reading is more ambiguous and has to do with government borrowing, not government lending. At any rate, Biden should assume he has that power and cancel student loans, because fuck Republicans, they cut $2 trillion in taxes to motherfuckers that don't need the money.

Mr. Daystar

I'm certainly not thrilled republicans did that, but spending more, to say fuck you, just because, is no better, If you want to do anything, undo, what the motherfuckers that didn't need it, got. Don't spend more, and if you do, at least spend it on people that have earned it, like veterans, or needy children, and the elderly. I'm all for helping those people

Women and people of color would benefit the most from student loan cancellation and I'm not going to try to out-do the post D-Rock made above. ^

I'm more concerned about who it would hurt, like the already over taxed masses, like me. If he wants to cancel it, then use money earmarked for pork barrel spending, or money that would be used to subsidize collages, they got there money from the student already. Or better yet, either take a bigger percentage from legal marijuana revenue, gamboling, or that sad pathetic so called war on drugs, My final thought isn't to impress Dino, though it will, lets start taxing churches, and every penny goes to the needy students. Trust me, I know how hard it is, my wife still has student loan debt. Mainly because she went back in her 40's to get a Masters, and it's rough to make it sometimes. Probably because of all the taxes we pay. My city has VERY high property taxes, because of school levies, because it sure as hell isn't a great neighborhood.

Student loans should be interest-free.
If student loans are to be forgiven or subsidized, then only for students in STEM, technical and apprenticeship courses, most other fields of study are more or less useless.

Why should future doctors, lawyers, engineers, and hedge-fund managers get free money?

@Luxman makes a good point about the quality of diplomas:
... STEM, technical and apprenticeship courses, most other fields of study are more or less useless.
It is past time to attack the root of the problem: the cost of higher education and the expectation of attending. Many average students would be better off skipping college and heading into a trade. A college degree isn't needed for many professions.

To me, this makes sense:

... not so much to others:
