Not to be confused with the best lyricist as there are too many to establish one as the best but without a doubt the best rapper would have to be LL Cool J.

His career has spanned all eras of hip hop and he is still fairly relevant today. I mean, this guy's contemporaries were Run D.M.C., Eric B. & Rakim, Kool Mo Dee, etc. and he's still releasing material in '08.

Probably so but the material is still somewhat relevant. That doesn't mean it's chart topping or even good..that just means he can still work his material into what producers like Trackmasters, Scott Storch, Neptunes, etc. create and make it sound reasonable.
