Nirvana was great when they wer around. A lot of bands wouldnt be around if it were not for Nirvana. Just think where would the foo fighters be if Curt Cobaine had not ****** himself, and Queens of the Stone Age would have never been formed

Just immagine what kind of stuff Nirvana would be making now if Curt Cobaine was still alive

Obviously he was not important enough for you to know how to spell his name though. It is Kurt Cobain, not Curt Cobaine.

Kurt is important, to a point.

I thought this thread was going to be about "art." So I was ready to say Michelangelo. I wasn't really around for any of the bands listed, so if I had to answer with a "write in" candidate, it would be U2 (but I like Nirvana more than U2).

he isnt important period. the fucker ****** himself, and i have no idea why people worship him. :dunno:

come on,cant believe you mean that!!

i love music a lot,its my life,and one thing ive learned
is to respect artist that influenced rock,even if i **** the stones
i have to respect them...(maybe not the last 20 years)

many of the artist we(i mean everybody)listen to are influenced by artist or bands that we dont like...

everybody on that list deserves respect,but for me its the beatles,
pretty much everything in rock has to do with them.

these artist/band deserves respect too(even if you **** them)

black sabbath =first real heavy metal band
king crimson=first progressive rock band
rush=first progressive metal band
ramones,new york dolls,sex pistols=first punk bands
kraftwerk=first techno band
faith no more=first rap metal band

i could go on and on,but those are my favorites

best band right now=tool(and its ok if you dont agree)

I believe Kurt Cobain was ********. If you have ever seen the documentary, I can't remember which channel.
Anyway, there was a guy saying something about Cobain being ********, and Courtney Love might be involved. A week or two after he was interviewed he was found dead. Sounds suspicious to me.

This is a thread about music artists. Another thread should be made for a debate on this subject.

Maybe listen to the lyrics of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and remember that that was the song, and that was the band that removed the "hair and lipstick crossdressing bands" THANKFULLY from the musical panorama.

Nirvana restored the credibility in American Rock, basically...they "tore down the establishment" at that particular time..basically. That exact emotion hits on one of the central cores of Elvis and the Beatles and Rock music..which the band later examined (tongue in cheek) with the video for "In Bloom"...

Well interesting to see how much taste differs. And well DvC, I tried to limit this poll to popular music. And whereas (at least according to me) Beethoven was a far better musician than, well all of the modern musicians, I'm not sure he was a better artist.

Anyway, my personal favorite of all time would be Led Zeppelin. I would pay millions to see them live with Bonzo and Page. Led Zeppelin is probably the best example of a band that has a top-notch singer, drummer, bass guitarist and singer combined. And another thing I like about them is that they've never ruined themselves. If you ask me, the Stones should've quit decades ago. And the Beatles just disappeared and stopped doing stuff. Led Zeppelin lost a drummer (the best drummer ever) and decided to stop there, and so the 80's never got to touch their image.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jimi Hendrix (as a guitarist) and Metallica are some of my other favorites.

I would put The Stooges, Ramones, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Gram Parsons and Neil Young much, much higher on the list. Link Wray and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds should have been on the list. I would have put Led Zeppelin even lower on the list, in my opinion they´re the most overrated band of all time.

Blasphemy!

Hank Williams Sr, Stanley Brothers, Muddy Waters, Bobby Fuller, Woody Guthery.

Honestly, I could give a fuck about Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doors and all the rest. There are two individuals that dwarf everyone else in their respective fields and they are:

1):cool: Roy Orbison (as a vocalist)
2):hatsoff:Stevie Ray Vaughan (guitarist).

Leonard Cohen (lyricist) deserves some consideration as well.
