Elvis and the Stones are the most important musical artists, imo. The Beatles obviously had the massive revolutionary impact but their later stuff, to me, is crappy, compared to their earlier stuff. And I really think, today, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are sadsack cliches...

BBBrody--the bands you mentioned, while great, are too contemporary. They are nothing more then products and influences off of The Stones. That is not to say that Nirvana and Foo Fighters aren't important today. Foo Fighters are in the discussion for best band today, imo.

i dont know how anyone can argue the beatles dont belong, they redefined modern rock music, sold millions upon millions of albums. ieveryone is going to have different opinions because personal taste in music differs, but i think the list does an alright job

Ah,Have you seen Mick or Keith Richards lately LOLOLOL.
At least the beatles had the sense to break up in 69 and not try to keep touring and become the real jokes the Stones became.:1orglaugh

Right Said Fred

Billy Ray Cyrus
Devastating Dave The Turntable Slave

Why Elvis? Sure, he was a good performer, but he didn't write his own music.

In my opinion, that doesn't make him important at all.

Elvis is very important because as Sam Phillips said (the owner of Sun records where Elvis got his start) he was a white guy who had the ability to sing with the soul of a black. While Blacks invented Rock and Roll, a white like Elvis was needed to be able to bring it to white america.Elvis did that and so yes his contribution cannot be over-estimated.Plus he was a helluva of a singer and performer. As John Lennon said before Elvis there was nothing. What you saw on TV before him him was bland safe stuff.

He sang. That's enough for me. Same with Frank Sinatra. The singing/performance experience elevate even above the lyrics. I'm not sure if Sinatra wrote his own songs. I think he did before the Capitol era. I really don't know.

Friday--The Stones walk the line today. Yeah, I suppose Keith Richards's decline into corpsehood has made them cliches...but I mean, the Stones aren't dumb enough to marry a hot busty ex-model, 30 yrs younger and say "we're in love," like Sir Paul did. I mean, wouldn't he have been better off banging Heather Mills and simply writing her a check for half his fortune:1orglaugh

Here we go: Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, J.S Bach, Mozart, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Gn'R(old), Whitesnake, Bob Marley & The Wailers, Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers, Inner Circle, Third World, Johnny Cash, Papa Dee, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, The *******, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, Carlos Santana, Cream, CCR, David Bowie, Def Lepard, Eddy Grant, Kiss, Kansas, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Maxi Preast, Meat Loaf, Motörhead, Raymond Charles Robinson, Queen, The Stones, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, Scorpions, Shaggy, SRV, Steve Kekana, Ted Nugent, Toto, UB40, Bill Lovelady, Wayne Wade, The Who and ZZ Top.

Was it enough?
