::cries:: Why.. WHY do I have to pay a montly fee for my second favorite RPG series?!?!?

Fallout 3, bless your wee heart.. ;) You havent failed me.

I have been a hardcore Star Wars fan for a long time, and they have done a lot of stuff in the EU that has pissed me off for the last decade now. The Knights of the Old Republic time frame was pretty much the only thing keeping me as a fan. This game might very well be the thing that pushes me over the edge makes me totally disown Star Wars forever especially if it screws up KotOR or cast aside Revan and the cast from the previous two games, which it seems to be doing if what they have shown about to be true. The story behind it isn't good. It's like they forced what was good for a MMO into a complex fictional world and you can tell. Not only that, they seem to want to screw over the hardcore fans to kowtow to casual Star Wars people that are also MMO fanboys who wouldn't have cared either way about the story as a cash grab. I don't know why they just didn't make this game in an unexplored era. All the people that wanted a new Star Wars MMO wouldn't have cared and the true fans of the series wouldn't be as pissed off. Not to mention the fact there is no way I'm paying a monthly fee to keep up with the Star Wars universe, which I probably couldn't buy since I started boycotting everything produced by Electronic Arts some time ago anyhow. I hate to say this but I hope this game bombs like the Galaxies game and the story within the new game gets somehow relegated to the lowest level of canon just for it’s own good.

This seem to be happening with other games as well for example WoW. They messed that up as well. Don't forget what they did with SWG.

They did with WoW. I never took SWG seriously as a story to be honest. At least with Warcraft however the story wasn't nearly as developed as it is in Star Wars so they weren't ruining that much. (Although to be honest I never played the last Warcraft game made). This would be the equivalent of taking a popular lengthily novel series, skipping ahead in time or killing off all the characters people loved and that were awesome just because it was convenient, creating a new story that sucked, and telling people instead of buying the next book or in the case a single player RPG to find out what happens that they had to pay 15 dollars a month to go through something dumbed down while listening to immature kids mouth off all day and getting ganked all the time in a game by a guy named DarthPutz where you could never really be the central figure anyhow.

After playing thru my first 3 months of WoW in 2006 I was fending off my addiction to it all.. so I picked up warcraft 3 + the frozen throne. Running around as that half-ogre was KINDA like leveling in WoW...

but the story is just weak in all Blizzard games, the units are all nerfed... the only thing you need to do in those games is build a huge force and zerg the other guys.

FUCKING LAME. No tears shed for the WoW raping of the story. Best of luck killing Arthas, guys. ;)

uhmm, the lore of warcraft is based on the comics/card game, you are right when you play all the warcraft games ( also 1 and 2 ) that it will captures most of the lore. The lore of warcraft isn't weak in my opinion, just they messed up a lot of things. Don't forget warcraft was suppose to be warhammer, but they messed up the paper work.

Arthas will probably die not any time soon tho, if they redeem him they can really suck my balls. Illidan is dead so Arthas should die as well. With all the lore there is for wow they can at least make another 3-4 expansions.

The thing how ever with wow and most of the MMORPG is that the developers favors the casual gamers that rune the game. Classes getting nerfed and buffed to favor the pvp environment, while the unique abilities of a certain class is getting less and less.

i finished KOTOR I and am in the process of KOTOR II. but that is on hiatus.
i have seen some stuff on this new game in gaming mags but i have no clue what all the initials stand for. so i am partly lost.

Does Bioware have anything to do with Sony online entertainment? the answer is no

As long as Bioware is owned by EA I can't totally trust what they might put out anymore. That was probably the most unfortunate software game buyout in a long time. Not to mention I'm not going to want to buy their malware infested product where they go overboard with the DRM which EA puts into everything now. What they have shown me so far about TOR doesn't thrill me, especially when people have been screaming for KotOR 3 for years. Despite what people think a producer up the chain does have an impact on how games are made, especially something like an MMO your trying to make so it can be the next WoW and get the cash streams that it offers.

Mass Effect is amazing.

Mass Effect is amazing.

I think they started at least part of both Mass Effect and Bioshock before the whole EA stuff. Neither of them are MMOs. I will be surprised if even Bioware can make a good story out of a MMO. Neither of them had complex histories as part of an huge fan driven existing universe beyond the games to possibly mess up so whatever happened in them didn't effect anything. Also look at their rating on Amazon for the PC to find out what fans think of the DRM EA put into them.

That DRM stuff only effects the PC versions right? I have Mass Effect for the XBOX 360. I do agree with you that EA has a hand in fucking up everything and I hate the fact that they have almost a monopoly on the video game industry. I was glad that Take-Two fought their hostile takeover.
