trailer makes it looks like 300 with roman gladiators...that's all i've seen of it, entertaining i presume?
I've seen Blood & Sand... and it's hardly high culture...
...but it's good entertainment. Blood, sex, hot bodies, intrigues, loads of sexy powerplay (for instance Lucy Lawless ordering a male slave around to bang her so she can get pregnant
) , and more greenscreen than you can wave a stick at. It's all good entertainment.

I recently watched Blood and Sand and I enjoyed the hell out of it. While certainly not historically accurate it does give you at least a glimpse at what life was like for slaves and gladiators in Ancient Rome. I was really impressed with Andy Whitfield as Spartacus. The season finale was awesome and I eagerly await next season. There are buckets of CG blood and T 'n A...all good things.

That's a good analogy. It's pretty violent, gory and sexy, with dialogue that's often hard to follow. It sounds like reading Ovid. But for some reading it's damn entertaining.

Its a great show I have caught a bunch of episodes - and just noticed they are now on the instant netflix - I plan to get all caught up soon. Lucy Lawless is something, always liked her in Xena, but she has many talents (acting and singing / musicals, etc).
The show does get a little to much into green screen stuff, but I guess that keeps the budget way down now days.
All and all an excellent show to watch, but thats just IMO.

When I saw trailers/episodes for Starz's Spartacus, it reminded me of Warner Bros' 300 in its action sequences and imageries.
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena was created as an off-shoot while Blood and Sands: Season 2 was on hold due to Andy Whitfield's health issues. According to the latest Wiki updates, Andy's health condition is not in remission and so a search for a new actor to portray Spartacus.
It would be cool if they get Gerard Butler to portray Spartacus. :thumbsup:

I don't know if anyone saw the last episode of Gods but I was a little disappointed because it was more of a soap opera. Although I hope Tullius gets his nuts sworded off.:surprise:
