There is quite a bit of intimidation here. That's not good for new people looking to join the community. Sure we should have a tough skin, but you have to admit, not everyone is willing to jump into such a fire.

I've been a member here for awhile, and in my view intimidation has always been a prevalent characteristic of FreeOnes Talk.

But you know what they say about bullies.

I got torn to shreds by people when I first joined. Initiation is common practice in many places. I think the problem isn't the initial intimidation, its when the new guy retaliates and gets blasted by the FreeOnes Cool Club for defending himself. Phuccalotapus is a good example.

For every good poster who's moved on, another good poster replaces them. There's plenty of great posters here. I'd say more than there ever has been. It's mathematically certain. If all your bros bounced back in 08 and you don't think anybody else is up to par, gtfo.

Despite any intentions on the part of the admins or mods, messing with the section will lead to bad results. Instead, what the admins and mods should do is ignore the Talk section entirely, because really, when has any of us ever interveined in something and not fucked it up? If we can follow this system then over time it will self-regulate accordingly, bringing greater prosperity to all. I call this the "invisible hand" theory and in no way whatsoever did I steal it from economics.

Like most forums I guess, this place definitely has its group of cool guys that get off on hazing other users.
It's a simple classic case:
User starts a thread or posts in a thread and if said forum cool guy doesn't agree with the title or the body content they feel 100% compelled to attack and post negative and or offensive shit in the thread...almost as if it's a mandatory requirement. Where I come from we simply turn the channel or the page when we read or hear something we may not agree with....in this case it's real simple to just close the thread and move on. Usually, cool guy will relentlessly bash the user and when the user doesn't completely submit and or ignores them they'll do their best to force them to engage, and when the user puts up a fight and engages...said cool guy really goes ape shit.

It seems to me these cool guys are usually the ones who whine and bitch the most about almost anything.

Personally, I like the forum overall...Like anywhere, it's got it's dip-shits for sure!

When the rules were strict we had members bitching.

When we loosened up the rules so members weren't being banned under the nazi like control, members were bitching.

When we banned people over saying 'boo' to an OCSM, people bitched.

When we let people have their opinions, people bitched.

When we do something that the majority wanted (like open a political section), people bitched.

Personally, I would rather see some stupidity, then feel like I'm in a place where my honest opinion brings down discipline. If people are leaving because they don't like the way it is, then what kind of members were they? I didn't like it when it was run with an iron fist, but I followed the rules, and dealt with it, because I like it here....if the members that bailed don't feel enough loyalty to stay when they don't like it....then let them be selfish and go.

Maybe it would give other models confidence to post on the board in places other than their babe threads if a model was made a mod & all they were there to do is keep an eye out for the other models & make sure they are treated the way they should be. I'm not saying it has to be me, there are alot more models with more board experience than me but it maybe an idea to encourage more models back to the Talk section to interact with all the lovely members here.

Thanks but I'm just being honest. In my view, more OCSMs (I'll leave the apostrophe out this time just for Andronicus ) means more traffic, both male and female. I know what other models have told me, as far as why they've stopped posting here or won't post here. And I know that when I first came here, even though the moderation was a bit heavy-handed at times, there were more general interest, (at least) semi-intelligent threads. Yeah, I know that members come & go. That's the case with any board - especially now, in these days of FaceBook and Twitter. Forums are less popular than they used to be.

And yeah, there are other girls besides you that might do well enough. I do not mean to take anything away from any of them - people here tend to get testy when you don't name them if you do name others. It's not about that. But I'm of the opinion that you (in particular) would do a very good job. I would also draft Jinxy Pie. The two of you are particularly well suited to bring just a bit more order to this place, while keeping it fun and interesting. You're both friendly, reasonable, sharp, witty and tough enough not to get rattled. How are those not ideal characteristics to be a mod on a porn board full of horndogs of various maturity levels? I'm not going to guess which particular former members might come back, as I don't know why most of them left. But with you and Jinxy having mod powers (and backup from the Admins), I would be willing to place a $50 bet that within six months, the number of OCSMs who post in Talk on a regular basis would double! And I garontee, not one of the people who is currently saying that things are OK as they are would leave. Why? Because if this current level of retardedness and bullshit doesn't bother them, then having some more "pink" around here wouldn't/shouldn't bother them either.

The talk section sucks, but I don't think it's something to do with the rules. The biggest things is that most of the content of the threads that are put up now sucks. I don't know any other way to put it than to be blunt like this. It's hard for me to come in this section and have more than two or three threads I even want to post in anymore where in the past there might be dozens. I blame the people that are members of this site now. Years in the past there was interesting, well thought out things that were in threads, now it's mainly garbage. It's like the overall mental abilities of the members here decreases with time or they act more juvenile. We need membership like we did years ago where we had a ton of good members here. (That's not to say there aren't good members now, but they don't seem like the majority or at least a very significant amount of the people that post here like it used to.)

I also think the splitting of of politics and sports out of it didn't help. It just further degraded the talk section of worthwhile things and turned both of those subjects into virtual graveyards judging by the amount of post those sections get.

I think that hits the nail on the head. Where did we get the impression that "yer in fer life"? Just because someone left, it doesn't mean that there is "fault", or that it's the board's. People are going to come and go. One of the reasons why my post count is what it is is because there have been entire months that I didn't show up here. Why? Don't remember. But it had nothing to do with the board or the members (and this was the "good ol' days" that so many are lamenting about). It's bcause my attention was elsewhere. It happens.

And honestly, there are some "regulars" that are no longer here that I don't miss at all.

If you're coming to this conclusion, so be it. If you felt this way when it was being discussed, I wish you had said something. I've noticed that the Sports board is pretty slow. Unfortunately, the main thing that keep Politics busy is all the meaningless, shit threads that Sam starts with his hillbilly drivel. I also resent (yes, resent) all the abortion/contraception/war-on-women threads that get going, without a woman in sight. This is exactly what's wrong with American politics, and we are perpetuating the stereotype here. Ridiculous.

I've been mod for quite a number of boards before. I know how this job works. I can, however, see the hesitation on the part of FreeOnes to give OCSMs the mod-power. What if we went ban-crazy on other OCSMs just because they said they hated how we looked in some outfit, or called our favorite football team stupid? :eek: Someone has to keep us in check, and while some of us OCSMs are capable of handling the power, I don't know if it's the smartest idea to give it to us.
