I remember when Obama was running in 08 and people were calling him the "S" word...even a lot of democrats wouldn't talk about it. It was a vile concept to be on the levels of blasphemy if even mentioned as an idea for the US to consider.
Now we have a self-proclaimed socialist getting the biggest crowd of ALL candidates running for president and who's following is growing every day. He's not a great candidate as far as his personal appeal goes...he's old and grey and Jewish and not very charismatic, but his message is hugely popular.
In a new poll he is now ahead of Hillary in New Hampshire 44% - 37% which is HUGE considering everyone had her penciled in the day after Obama gave Romney that beating in 2012.
Bernie won't win more than likely, but the stage has been set. People who never cared about politics are now getting involved just like they did when Obama ran in 08. The base and the young people are showing up and they're excited. If the democrats can increase turnout by 5% over 2012 they win by 8 million votes, even if the republican turns out 10% more, and 2012 was the best republican turnout since Reagan beat Carter in 1980.
